What colour dinning table should I buy?

We have a rectangular kitchen and have a limited space to keep the dinning table. Please help me with the colour. I have liked the below table, what do u think?

I think it would all look a bit too 'woody'. Maybe a circular black pedestal one to match the work tops?

I agree, everything would look tonally the same. Why not look at a zinc top table (this is from loaf) or something with a painted/coloured finish. You can always add a bench against the wall to save space with chairs the other side (again with a painted effect)

Oh wow, they look wonderful! Very MCM! I want them!! However, I was thinking that, due to your space restrictions, a folding table would work better. You can keep it behind your sofa and double it as a console when not in use. Have you ever considered a real interesting eye catching piece of art work to really brighten up an area, I think a select piece of art would really make the space stand out, add interest, colour, texture and add a great talking point to the room.... Hi Charlotte - I like the Eames chairs suggested above and, as classic furniture, they won't date; I think the image supplied by Ana really sets the scene well. If you want to consider other classic chairs, there is the Series 7 by Jacobsen which comes in a multitude of colours - we supplied those below in this neutral scheme but paler coloured / white chairs would suit your proposed decor. Carl Hansen Wishbone Chairs are also timeless, and worth a look; they come in fewer colours, but are very stylish.For a softer feel, fabric chairs might also work for you - again with some colour. As for putting a rug beneath, I've seen a multitude of photos with this feature, which look fine in the photo, but I've never considered the idea practical; I would be concerned about rucking the edges with the chair legs and the area beneath the table can get quite dirty with crumbs. I think you will break up the wood-on-wood look with more interesting chairs, so personally I would avoid a rug. Hope this helps. Nick

I would stick with the rug you have. The larger one I think would cover too much floor and as you say, the corner would be a trip hazard. As for the gap behind the sofa, I don't find it odd at all. It makes sense anyway to allow air to circulate around the radiator. I would actually pull the longer sofa away from the wall a bit too- I know you don't have much room but even a gap of a few centimetres would add to the feeling of space. It's a lovely room. I really like the wall-hung tv unit, very clever!

I also thought so that it would look very woody. So will the glass table and black chair going to look nice? Is there any colours which will suit? Can someone give me some examples?

Hi. No I meant a table like that or something in a painted/lacquered finish, either to add another colour or add another material to the room. Try looking on made.com, they have a few nice tables which are reasonably priced. They also have some which are a mix of wood and paint which would work if you went for painted chairs

You could always buy a wooden table and paint it yourself :)

This table was painted with Rustoleum Chalk Furniture paint and it gives a lovely flat finish. It's available in a range of colours.

my kitchen (the choice of the previous owners) is like this, and my table (my choice for the house before this one) is oiled oak. I love the table, but it doesn't go with the kitchen AT ALL. For your kitchen, I'd go for the contrast, not the wood (or for the different colour kitchen but this was not the question))).

How about something that respects the style of your kitchen but is playful because it is taller than a normal dining table.

Hello all, I am back in the game. was out of country for few days. After reading everyone's comment and considering I need to go with something different. Also, looking at budget, I have found something which I would like your opinion on

Its basically a black wooden table with cream and black fabric chair? U have seen my kitchen in the pic above, please advise!!

If you like it, why not? Perhaps some zebra table mats and a serving of liquorish allsorts to funk it up.

I would not go for a wood table, it will be too much in this small space. Glass top with black, stainless steel or wooden legs and simple chairs would look nice.
