Need to tame my craft room/home office
Comments (3)Hi Karen, I have a space like that as well! But I have spread it all around my house, the only 'safe' place left is the bathroom. How is the lighting in your space? Do you have a window? Its important depending on this as you have to design with this in mind. You don't want to feel claustrophobic in your creative space. Do you need a permanent desk/craft table or are you expected to have items such as computer and phone on your desk. You can make a sturdy table that can be folded up to the wall and when in use can come back down. This same table can have smart storage solutions placed on them (mechanical addition) so it would be a rack storage when up or down. Comments (7)Hi Katy, I personally think that in order to give importance to your nice tiles in the shower you should paint the walls in a light grey colour. Farrow and Ball has nice greys ( strong white or ammonite). I would also paint the ceiling in the same colour as the walls; it will look look bigger. In regards to the floor I would lay a grey rectangular tile mat finish with a bit of texture but quite simple. If you want to add some touches of colour do it in the accessories like soap dispenser, towels etc... I hope this helps. Good lick with your project :)...See MoreHow would you lay out our downstairs?
Comments (14)Thank you so much Jonathan for taking the time to draw your ideas. Sorry I couldn't get back to you before, I worked double shift yesterday. I really like the way you envisage the upstairs; moving the utility up a floor makes sense to me although my other half might need persuading. If we went with a utility area (as opposed to a room) we could add a window above the washer & dryer to bring in some light. Otherwise the upstairs landing would be very dark with no natural light. Have to say I do like this layout. Great to see your thoughts on the downstairs too. Moving the kitchen to the front of the house is sth we haven't given much thought to - I suppose we'd prefer to keep it at the back and link to garden - but it definitely good to get your perspective. Thanks again....See MoreHelp me improve our neglected garden - children play ideas
Comments (11)This space has potential and you can work with what you have. Perhaps you could start by power-washing the decking and refreshing the colour, along with the log rolls. Try using Garden Shades. It’s a bit more pricey but gives good coverage and lasts. It also has a good range of colours. As previously suggested use artificial turf (middle tier where the yellow tractor is on pic). Keep the Box shrubs but reshape. You have what looks like a sculpture/water feature that is hidden - bring that out and make a feature of it on the decking. You could always get your joiner to cut out part of the decking and make a trap door then sink a sand pit below. Trellis part of your fencing and grow climbers - protect the young plants by burying plastic coated metal mesh in the soil and above the soil by a couple of feet (make sure any sharp edges are made safe for the kids). Buy large pots rather than small, plant them up and place on decking. We are surrounded by fields and wild rabbits invade our garden. They will eat anything if hungry but there are plants they will tend to avoid. Luckily they are mainly of the same pink/purple pallet. Try planting any of the following: Hellebore, Lambs Ear, Peony, Salvia, Baptista, Cat Mint, Foxgloves, Astilbe, Veronica, Iris, Lavender, Allium, Daffodils, Bee Balm, Daylily, Anise Hyssop - above all, keep that bunny well fed with what you want it to eat! Good luck....See Morehowden9
