Living room revamp dilemma

Hi all
Redecorating living room to get rid of purple feature wall. Am thinking of more cosy country look in all cream with check accents, muted blues greens etc but unsure how to achieve. Its a long 22' through lounge.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Maybe grey and cream will be nice and cosy if like colours that's all I can really tell you don't really no much

Have you ever considered a real interesting eye catching piece of art work to really brighten up an area, I think a select piece of art would really make the space stand out, add interest, colour, texture and add a great talking point to the room....

I’d recommend having a look at our Dulux Heritage range of paint –this has colour palettes specifically selected to complement the character and style of traditional period properties, such as yours. Hello. I've been reading about rugs and allergies and decided to have a go with either jute or polypropylene rug, which should be fine in my circumstances. There aren’t many sofa shops left, but I recently went into Furniture Village and they had some nice stuff as did DFS, but some of it was awful so pick carefully. John Lewis have some nice stuff, but I just read they have temporarily closed all their stores........brands that seem to be good quality are G Plan and Parker Knoll. You need to google search your nearest stockist. There are a lot of newer companies like Sofology that seem to be popular but I’ve no experience of them. My sister bought her last sofa from Fishpools and she said they had lovely sofas.

I am afraid to say that you will not get the cosy country look whilst you have that massive settee. It engulfs the room. Change this, and the room will open up more and you will be able to see what you really want. At the moment there is too many brown/dark colours fighting each other. I you get 2 smaller settees (if you need 2), the colour needs to be much lighter, and then tie in colours - perhaps a country green.

I think the purple is good and works with the fireplace. It actually could be rather elegant with a little re-work. What could have been nice is if this feature wall was carried through to the other end of the room where the dining table is... You can then add warm colours to compliment in lighter shades of purple or even grey purples and of course stone colours.... ...

Add accent cushions etc to tie in the curtains with some lighter shades here to compliment the fire surround.. The sofa is rather dominating and if you can move part of this away... If there is a chair portion that could sit where the pouffe is facing in angled, then re situate the sofa part to face the fire on the rear wall... This opens things up and more importantly the window..

Maybe hang the tv on a moveable bracket so it can angle for viewing but perhaps placed back to the wall when not in use. Thus it doesn't fight for attention when the fireplace should be the focus.

If you cannot replace the sofa.. One way of lightening the dark impact here is to layer with throws.... Over the end of one arm... Something layered over the back and of course a couple of different sized cushions on one side only... Purple and stone would be my suggestion again to compliment the theme.. Some lovely flowers white and purple could be nice here... A stand for the plant... perhaps another plant...
