Asbestos!!!

A very quick question can the previous owner of our property be held responsible for illegal disposal of asbestos. Basically removed the asbestos garage roof and buried it under the concrete floor of the garage.

If they did it and did not disclose it I would think yes, ask your realtor

hi , I think you need to get it fixed . if it contains chrysotile, whilst it is dangerous it is not the worse form or asbestos . you need to have it either removed or encapsulated to seal it from being a danger. Artex contains small traces of the product, but as you only need one fibre to enter your lungs to cause problems it is not something to take lightly. looking at the photo it seems that it is paint flaking and not the artex, but difficult to determine. if you paint over the area using a brush or roller with a suitable ppe, so suit mask and double bag and throw all on completion this will give you some protection in the short term. if it was a leak and you had insurance cover at the time of the leak , it is not too late to claim on the insurance. it may be the way to go as you have a limited budget. Are you sure it's asbestos? When I bought my 60s home, the survey said my porch ceiling could be asbestos, but it's actually wood. I had an asbestos water tank removed from my loft by a specialist handler who double wrapped it in plastic before taking it through the loft hatch.

so any kind of messing with asbestos is always advised against unless its professional, ive lived in properties with it in the floor and was advised to floor over it as it would cause more damage and be more dangerous to remove or take apart. usually you can directly message an asbestos company and just ask such as central environmental i think theyre called.
