living room rug dilemma :-/
Comments (30)Lol! It is hard to make a decison. I would just check the return policy of every company especially the postage. If you're unsure it may be better using a high street shop so you can just return in person. I'm a bit 50/50 on the rug size. I would typically go for front feet on but if you look back at your photos (and stick your fingers over the missing half of the rug when it's widthways!) it only seems to make a small difference in this instance but that could be the camera angle. A rug that doesn't contrast hugely with your floor should help with feeling of space. Oh bless her, wood floors are great for kids but not when they fall...See MoreHelp with HUGE living room dilemma please!
Comments (42)I think that the fire place is beautiful as it is and does not need any make up!! The sideboard on the right is no so big at all and if painted with different colour than grey and distressed could become a much lighter piece with its own character. I would take the top off the left one and again shabby chick it, filling the doors with ornaments to make it more interesting. It is amazing what a transformation you can achieve with a bit of chalk paint! I am using chalk paint for my oversized wooden clocks and it can give an amazing look to a piece for wood: Giant Shabby Chic Wooden Wall Clock Contemporary Large Wooden Wall Clock Rustic Oversized Handmade Wall Clock Give it try before you get rid of them:) Anna...See MoreDesign dilemma #living room
Comments (15)Sukiharrison and Odd job Hadyman, Thank you very much for your comments :) We actually intended to have the sofa on the opposite wall and built in cabinets and shelves exactly like you've suggested but I absolutely loved this big L shape sofa so desided to have it as it is now. There is no problem to move one part of the sofa to the opposite wall and the other to the wall against the window, but for now this is more convenient lay out. The shelves have to wait for now but I imagine them in white. After hearing a few suggestions about the secondary light by the window I will probably listen to the pros and remove it In favour of a floor or table lamp. No curtains.. For now :) I have a big thing about dust and would like this house to be as easy to clean as possible and generally don't like curtails Over radiators. Thou I understand this will affect the appearance I'd like to keep it simple....See MoreHelp with new kitchen design - I can't get it to work!!!!!!
Comments (4)Definitely lose the wall. Is the fireplace in use? If not, maybe you could also build in front of it. ( Maybe you could have the hob where the fireplace is in the corner? ) I see also that you've gone for a free standing fridge freezer taking up 1.6m of space. integrate in to the island or long run of units and have more units in the freed space. I think once you lose the wall then you've got plenty of room for your island, in face plenty of room for everything, just get a good kitchen designer on the case. Maybe consider some irregular shapes if you can utilise the fireplace area? I'm no kitchen designer, but those qualified i've seen come up with some amazing designs to unify odd spaces. !! Safe to say one thing though, i think it should be fairly easy to use more than the one wall. Good luck!...See Morenickiboz
