POLL: Colourful fireplace - love or loathe?
Comments (29)I think here it looks a little bit tacky. Sorry but I would put other colours on the back wall, blue for example? Otherwise it stands out a bit too much....See MoreWhat would you do with this off-centre fireplace?
Comments (63)HI Sarah I love what you have achieved. Many congrats for embracing what you have and creating something that totally enhances the placement of the fireplace. The space looks like it was made for the placement of that perfect chair and you've done a gorgeous job with your selection and placement of art . I am moving with considerable grief from my gorgeous arts and crafts bungalow to an early1970s small house. I have to say this style of architecture in NZ wasnt exactly a highlight. But I set myself a challange to embrace the architecture and look to enhance rather than fight it . That challenge shifted me off my despair track and now I am excited and hopeful and thinking about space and colour and the amazing light pouring in (a quality of houses of this time)..and textures . i feel so cteative in new and diffetent ways...and it's so exciting. seeing what you have achieved - it is very affirming for me I love what you have created....See MoreHow to center my new TV if the fireplace not in the middle?
Comments (14)Hi. Thanks a lot for all your precious feedback, I found all hints very useful. This is mine to yours: 1) Sitting down on my sofa I would be 3.5/4 meters far from the TV, so the experience would not be immersive like I wish (I like watching movies in the evening when not out). There is a return policy I can use if too big so I can eventually scale down to 55. The living room is small but not too much and the TV is one of the modern thin ones with nice frames that become a paintings when not in use... let’s see!😂 2) I like the fireplace as decoration, I have a nice plant there.. I would be sorry to loose it, furthermore if I move the TV there then it would cover partially the wall and the mirror. I decided to move the mirror to hang the TV instead and create more space and have a rid of the TV bench. 3) The alcove on the right is too small unfortunately, it would be my favourite place🙈 I would not be able to add neither a 20 inches...so it’s like not having it because not functional. Despite almost all voted to align using the wall (2) I think that, when looking at the wall, what catches the eye more is the dark/black area of the TV and the fireplace, therefore I think these two elements should be align. I was thinking of compensating the left side with a falling plant (or something else) from a new shelf at the top like the two pictures above. What do you think?...See MoreWall panelling in my living room but stove is off centre
Comments (20)No. You can have panelling that goes two thirds the way up the wall topped with a shelf (like an upside down skirting board if that makes any sense). You can also have it over the panelling in line with a horizontal board. There are lots of different versions....See More- 9 years ago
