Pronorm Kitchens - Y line, matt onyx grey and rift oak combination

We are 99.9% sure we are having a Pronorm Y Line kitchen installed in a few months time.

We are still going through the design stage but was wandering if any lovely people here have got a Pronorm kitchen and what they think about it.

We are thinking of a onyx grey matt lacquer on a bank of 7 tall units, with 3 Siemens appliances central, with a rift oak frame around them, then the island in the rift oak, white corian worktop and oak breakfast bar. The designs look stunning but don't want to spend a huge amount of money on something we regret.

Any thoughts?

Pronorm is one of the larger German kitchen companies. We use Kuhlmann kitchens who are big enough to invest but small enough to care. But you will be happy with pretty much any German kitchen

Hi Paul,

We are a dealer for Pronorm Kitchens also and we also supply another luxury brand (of course German). As Intiva Kitchens as said as long as you have a German kitchen you should not worry about the quality, as German manufacturers are world renowned as the best at making kitchen furniture.

As long as you are confident in your supplier and they have a good track record ( which I would doubt is nothing but fantastic) than you should be good to go.

It sounds like you have a lovely combination for your kitchen we would love to see some pictures after its all done!

I'm sure other Houzzers who have Promorm kitchens will comment here to set your mind at ease.

So funny! I'm planning to paint the bannister at the new house (TNH) black and am veering towards painting the treads and risers black too... I've been searching for images of black staircases on Houzz and putting them in my entrance hall ideabook. They are few and far between. In your case, I think, with your white walls, maybe the stairs white and the bannister black? (Assuming the white walls continue up the stair walls enabling the b/w contrast.) You've already put black firmly into the equation, adding some more may give more reason for the black rad cab. In my case, there is a very off-centre radiator that could so very easily have been directly opposite the front door in TNH which is rather annoying as it stuffs up the focal point. We are leaving here with every radiator covered with a cabinet - and going to TNH that has loads of radiators ...but no cabinets! Yes, the work ahead is daunting - especially since the area of Ireland we're going to is very basic and not full of DIY resources, etc. I keep thinking I'll paint TNH white - to make things simpler(!) But try as I may colour keeps wandering through my mind! Lovely to be in touch again!

Having enough storage makes a huge difference to a kitchen - we had ours redone in 2015 & we decided on a lot of storage, with the cupboards scribed to the ceiling (no my dust at the top of the units) as well as useable long counter tops that are practical for preparing & cooking. Another vote for Dekton and Sileston Quartz worktops, use them all the time in our projects as so much more forgiving and low maintenance than granite or marble. Agree that Corian is a good option if you have a large island to prevent visible joins, whilst it has other benefits you do need to be very careful when it comes to heat. Vast range of colours and textures in all types nowadays so the type of material shouldn't limit the effect you want to achieve - be that traditional or contemporary. I am always a big advocate that a worktop is an investment, there is no point spending a large sum on a beautiful quality kitchen and then finishing it off with a worktop that won't stand up to time as well as the rest of the room or cheapen the look - I always recommend to go for the best you can afford.
