Newbie- need help with lounge feature wall pls!
Comments (3)Re the paint colour I wouldn't recommend white it will be very stark, you need something warmer with possibly a taupe or heather tone, this will work well with your scheme. Re the spot lights, you can go for energy efficient LED's, they come in white or warm white. The warm white give off a warmer light, similar to what we are used to from our traditional light bulbs. The warm whites vary hugely from brand to brand, so view them before buying them. I would recommend a dimmer switch so you can control the amount of light. Not all fittings are suitable for dimming. Re the mirror I wouldn't put gold as you have a chrome fire surround. But burnished metals are perfect. Good luck....See MoreMagnolia with grey feature wall (Bedroom)??
Comments (20)Personally I would not pair grey with magnolia, consider looking at a different colour to contrast with...to emphasise and bring out the undertones in the grey. Or you could paint the room a mid grey, and use a feature wallpaper behind the bed to add impact. Also be warned that you need to know what undertone is in the grey to know what it will pair well with! Good luck look forward to seeing the results! If it was my room, I think I'd paint the room in a mid grey and do a feature wall behind the bed with a patterned wallpaper that references the grey - some examples attached - http://eu.farrow-ball.com/drag-dr-1283/drag/farrow-ball/fcp-product/201283 Or http://eu.farrow-ball.com/drag-dr-1280/drag/farrow-ball/fcp-product/201280 or I love the drama in this http://www.cole-and-son.com/en/collection-curio/wallpaper-107/3016/ would work with a dark grey room.... http://www.cole-and-son.com/en/collection-curio/wallpaper-107/4017/... http://www.cole-and-son.com/en/collection-geometric/wallpaper-93/7026/, http://www.cole-and-son.com/en/collection-geometric/wallpaper-93/7025/ Tailor your soft furnishings then to complement any colours that come through in your wallpaper feature....See MoreDark grey sofa help!
Comments (6)Hello cdrs, I don't like beige with the grey(I think wrong colour line) so why have it? If your strapped for cash because of moving(Perfectly understandable), get covers over the furniture and choose a colour scheme you do like. I did this and worked well but be careful of cheap items not colour fast. Bought nice cheap same king size duvet sets x 3. Pillows made enough cushion covers, the duvets made main seating covers and curtains which are automatically reversible. I tied the the duvet with ribbon joining the curtain hooks. If you'd like the heading higher put in some stiffening. In all cost £70. Looks good, washes fast and back on need to having animals and g'children. I used to caravan and a similar living area, too many colours makes it manic. I think you'd need calm by having a light silk paint for wiping down and paper to a minimum or higher up the dado with pictures/mirrors perhaps, may break the slimness of the room and keep it interesting. Hope it goes well for you all HB X...See MoreDark grey kitchen/living room - wall paint colour?
Comments (0)I have a small open plan kitchen/living room that I'm struggling to settle on a paint colour for. The cabinets take up most of the wall space in the kitchen area and are a dark, reflective grey with a minimalist design (similar to: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/d0/4d/69/d04d69bab448e2a5d141e63c1bd8b0f2.jpg) The countertops are a white granite speckled with grey and black. My key colour is orange which I have for some appliances and small things. I've put up a backsplash of simple white tiles that covers the walls about a foot above the countertops. The living room furniture is a mix of dark grey/black fabrics and metal work with mid-tone natural wood (similar to the first on the left here: http://floorsandldn.wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Swatch1.jpg). The flooring throughout is in the same tone of wood. I would like to be bold and go with a dark grey (e.g. Ink from Neptune https://www.neptune.com/interior-decor/paint/ink-paint/) on the walls, but I'm having trouble finding a tone that will work with the cabinets, which change so much depend on what light they're reflecting. This is making me think I should instead go for a mid- or light grey, but I don't want to tone it down so much that it loses the impact and ends up not working! I'm keeping the ceiling and skirting boards white and using a lot of light/white cushions and throws to stop it becoming too dark. Any help much appreciated as it's been far too long I've been dithering over this!...See Moreminnie101
