Do I need a designer or an architect for my kitchen?
Comments (9)If the kitchen company don't have a design service they must have had drawings from other professionals before- surely they would make a suggestion? The person in question could be various types of building professionals, interior designer, architectural technologist, architect, surveyor- anyone who is skilled in the design and production of technical drawings. If you want them to interpret your aspirations and needs- that honestly is down to the individual- technical skill and understanding of clients is not the same thing, so you should talk to a selection of people before choosing someone. For your peace of mind they must have insurance to cover their work- Professional Indemnity- thus they are covered and the rectification is covered should they make a mistake- the kitchen doesn't fit for example because they got a measurement wrong. If you need structural calculations you will need a structural engineer. If you have a trusted builder and they trust a particular architect- word of mouth recommendation is worth a lot. Best of luck....See More(Urgent)What colour furniture should I put in my guestroom ?
Comments (20)Hi Kit Kat. Personally I think the stark black and white everywhere must be horrible to live with, very visually disturbing. It must be a very old traditional cottage so I can see why your husband might insist on keeping it as is. Use the Houzz image search or Pinterest to search for limed oak cottage interiors and build up a gallery of images that could illustrate to him how much softer it would look without all that black! Removing the black would give the most authentic finish but might be a total nightmare to do, often people have to have them blasted in situ (expensive and very messy!). If he still won’t listen then it may seem odd but painting the walls a darker tone (closer to black) would help with the jarring contrast! I like your ideas four poster etc but I think that room is too small for anything like that. You could find some richly patterned fabric for the curtains and hang some as a headboard. Best of luck with changing your husbands mind, you are right though, stick to your guns!...See MoreHELP!! what do I do with my island pendants??
Comments (24)Awww thanks Ellie, I was gutted for you to read about your flooring issues! Yea, the guys have really kept things moving forward. Downstairs Should be painted over the next week, then flooring goes down 18-20th..then they can fit the pocket doors into the frames, then they need to be painted! Then we can get all our furniture back! But next exam is the 3rd :-0 so Proper unpacking will be mostly after that! Need to order new wardrobes and a new bed! Can’t believe how much has happened! In the last few months! Back wall - plan is to get a wooden shelf (probably an upcycled scaffolding board one) for all my many recipe books, which will add some life and colour! And a magnetic strip for some knives :-)...See MoreHELP- I’ve made my new bathroom look dated. what can I do?
Comments (60)If space is your priority, perhaps the second toilet would be better? What brand is it, btw? I will eventually be redoing a bathroom (had planned to do it this year, but gas price rises have made me decide to install a wood burner instead). Really like the shape of this second toilet and it looks like it would be so easy to clean....See MoreChantal Ouyang
