Kitchen Lighting

I need to advise my builders on lighting for our new kitchen....I don't want to go over board but its north facing so want it to be warm and cosy.

Other than spotlights what other lights would you recommend and how many lights!

The colour temperature of the LEDs suit the finishes of the first kitchen, but the second kitchen , with wooden effects, needs a much warmer LED. A fine line when working in kitchens as the cooler the LED, the better the preparation light. Tough one!

Thank you for taking the time to reply Gabby. I wasn’t sure whether this type might lead to flickering if the kitchen got too steamy / moist. I had one in a bathroom years ago and it used to do that but it could have just been the quality of the light fitting...

Hi Heidi, Sorry but I would not go with that type of light over the worktop. It will most likely only project light into the spot that it drops down onto. If you only have 1 celing fitting how about something like this... cotterellandco.com/products/arvin_3_light_bar_pendant_antique_chrome_-_glass

Yes that weird wall hanging . That can be removed and we are hoping it will create a more natural flow as currently makes that area much darker. Along itself obviously won’t bring in more natural light but optically might make the place brighter as won’t be there an object . We were thinking to remove the wall along the stairs as it’s not a load baring wall but because it’s a 3 story house you can’t from a. Fire build reg point of view .
