HELP! HOW TO PAINT WINDOWS' INNER FRAME?
Comments (3)Depending on what colour you choose your looking at less than £1000 easily. Let's say you prime them with shellac bin sealer which is approximately £100 for 5 litres then decided you wanted an oil based eggshell as the finish which is approximately £100 for 5 litres again Clean the windows down with sugar soap, give them a sand down and apply 1 coat of shellac bin sealer. You should be able to do this plus one more coat inside and out within a day. Day 2 apply one coat of oil based eggshell and leave all windows as open as possible to speed up drying. If it is a particularly hot day or windy, then you may be able to apply the 2nd coat. There is another paint called brantho, which is the primer, undercoat and gloss in one. Meaning all you have to do is wash the windows then apply 2 coats without the primer. It's fumes are particularly nasty and it's about £120 for 5 litres I think. I would probably recommend the bin sealer option as I'm not a huge believer in brantho....See MorePaint colours for window frames?
Comments (12)Hello Jemima, There is a company that manufactures paint for uPVC. http://www.kolorbond.co.uk/kolorbond-paint-plastic-pvc-upvc There are though other ways to tackle the painting of plastic which are to first paint with a universal primer like Zinnsser Bullseye 123 and then the colour of your choice.. I like Brandi's idea of grey to match the cabinets but then I also like the brown of the french doors.. So maybe leave those as they are. If the windows grey would not suit then my second is a brown to match the french doors... If you cannot access the uPVC to paint them easily, I'd at least find out what they suggest... I personally have never worked on uPVC windows so cannot be of any help - they may have people who specialise in this area... : ))...See Moreadvice on coloured window frames

Comments (6)A tricky one as lots of bits to consider, window colour against roof, the weatherboard etc. One thing I decided ( personal preference ), was that everything had to be the one colour. So, the garage, the weatherboard, the door on the right, the walls etc. Making everything one colour gave it both cohesion and presence. It makes it seamless and larger looking. I have to say, I though I would like grey and didn't:- I did like white:- I swayed between white and Sandstone. I think if it were me i'd go for Sandstone, because the white was a little harsh, although I did really like it. So it's a tuffy....See MoreCatherine Ellis
