What are your best DIY side/coffee table tips?

I'm looking to make a table (either side or coffee) with space to store magazines/books and would love some inspiration. The style would ideally be a midcentury modern look or something a little bit rustic. Max price I'd be looking to spend would be £45 for bedside or £55 for a coffee table. Thanks!

What about a vintage piano stool with storage? You could find them on eBay under £40.

My Orchid was bought in September of 2012. It was blooming then and is still blooming now. It sits in the kitchen window sill on the south side of the house. In the summer I put the shade down so it doesn't get too much sun. I give it 3 ice cubes a week and it seems to like what I'm doing because one of the stems that had already bloomed is setting new buds. The purple blooms are the real ones. I didn't have enough faith and I bought an artificial stem so everyone that sees it thinks it is two different plants.

Hello @The Picture House. Thank you! Just to touch on your point, I don't agree at all really. I think most people want to envision the property with themselves living in it, how they want to see the home. When I talked about what I look for, it was from a personal viewpoint. I don't need to see anything added to see if the place is worth something. (Not financial) I'm talking structural and aesthetics. The "bones" of the place, if you like. Also potential has nothing to do with clean, tidy, or adding a few objects, just reading your pointers. Potential isn't styling, it has to do with architectural details and the capacity for renovation or restructuring. If that is what is sought. For that you need an eye for these details and there are a lot of people who are very clued up and interested in this area. Talking from experience that is. I think the problem with selling, is knowing your market and who you're selling to. Knowing your property and how to market it (at the time) to its fullest potential. Marketing your property for who you want to sell it to. So whoever it is can see what they can add- if at all! However, what a client is looking for from their purchase will largely dictate the type of property they seek. Interestingly some "interior designed" property renovated for sale are some of the worst examples of boring,bland and unimaginative. I would argue the use of the term "Interior designed" It comes down to style and taste which is diverse and individual. Displaying the architectural elements to their fullest. In short, it takes.. Hi Kyle. Can you move the furniture you're selling into another room temporarily and try rearranging the furniture to see what space you're actually left with so you can measure it out properly? I might be wrong but it looks as if the only other place the sofa can go is in front of the sideboard, it looks by eye as if it would be too deep to go on the RHS of the fire? Has your partner actually found tables he likes?

My friend has rich cream coloured blinds and they just have a grubby “smokers” look about them (God I hope she’s not on Houzz!). There are many different whites and some are textured so you can see the grain through without being dinghy.
