How often do you clean your bathroom?
Comments (13)Every day I give the bathroom a clean, I love shiny chrome and squeaky clean porcelain, if you keep on top of it it really only takes 10 mins max, including the floor tiles. Use disposable kitchen roll for your loo, and 2 glass cleaning cloths, one wet and one dry, for your porcelain and shower screen. Floor wipes are great, but steam cleaner is effortless. Happy cleaning...See More2 bed apt in central London or 4 bed town house in suburbs?
Comments (39)Moved from a lovely 2 bed flat in Ealing to a 3 bed Victorian mid terrace in Hitchin in North Herts on the train line into Kings Cross/Moorgate in 2011. I struggled to leave the city but our town is v lovely and unique for commuterville in that there is a lots on offer on our high street both for shopping and entertainment. That said, we've sold to move a little closer to a big city again. Moving 10 miles north of Brighton later this year. I love our house and the space but after 5 years I feel I need more than there is on offer here and once we leave this town, it's a 30 minute (usually more) drive minimum to get anywhere with more on offer. I'm a city girl through and through and though I can no longer afford to live in one, I need to be close to one. Space is great, but think of what you do with your spare time, though it's pretty fab for where we are, I feel I outgrew this town of 35,000 people in less than 5 years....See MoreCan you recommend someone to draw the floorplan of a house accurately?
Comments (5)Hi there, I can't recommend anyone specific in Leeds (not my area!), but in the first instance, you can seek out a local independent bathroom/bedroom studio and ask them to come and quote you. More often than not, their design and quoting service is free, though if you start asking for lots of changes/versions, they may well ask for a modest fee - often this will be credited against any subsequent purchase you make. While I wouldn't recommend taking unfair advantage (I've had my share of "customers" like that!), if you explain what you are looking to do, the constraints on your budget and show willing to consider them for any subsequent purchase, I'm sure they'll be happy to help. And while of course I am biased, I strongly believe the small independents tend to be better value and more willing to tailor a project to your needs. We are also unlikely to want all your cash up front and leave you in the lurch if things go wrong! Plug for small independents now over.... ;-) Wrt your mother-in-law specifically, I wanted to draw your attention to the fact that many items specifically designed to ease a disability as well as changes to bathrooms which are required because of that disability are normally eligible for reduced VAT rates - either 5% or 0% VAT depending on certain factors. It is normally easy to claim and only requires a short form and signature by your mother-in-lay confirming the need. DEFINITELY worth asking about this and following up - saving 20% on your costs is not to be sneezed at! Regarding ideas to consider - think plenty of space in the rooms, a wetroom or open shower, grab rails & folding shower seats, sit-on top basins on wall mounted worktops that a wheelchair could be wheeled under - of course it depends on the particular disabilities, but a good designer will be able to help. In recent times we've installed special hydraulic "lift out" baths, infra-red heaters to keep elderly customers warm when exiting showers; we're just about to start installing a kitchen for a sight-impaired gentleman with good contrast between cupboards, worktops & floors, easy to see/grab cupboard doors, easy access storage solutions - there are so many options! Good luck with the renovations!...See MoreWhat's your favourite home feature?

Is it that antique side table that you found at a market, your brand new sofa or even a little trinket box that holds a wealth of memories? Share your comments and ideas!
