Design help with kitchen

I'm moving into a new house which needs an entirely new kitchen. I'm slightly unsure of how to best utilise the space to get maximum worktop and storage. There is no utility so the space needs to include washing machine and dryer. I want it to feel spacious but practical and have no idea where to start. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Hi. How lovely to have such a great space to work with! It looks lovely and light - you are going to have a lot of fun! My first thought was to switch the room around, assuming you want to keep a kitchen diner layout. Difficult to see what happens in the other half of the room, but if you put the kitchen the other end, you won't be so restricted by the two doors and window.

You need to think first and foremost about how you use the room - is it purely functional, or a living space for all the family? What appliances do you want (eg range cooker or column integrated oven). Think about your dream kitchen - aim high because if you don't put all your desires into the original brief, then none of them will end up being a reality!

Hello Jeannette, what a lovely project! I've worked on a number of bungalows and they have their own unique challenges. Making the spaces work for our needs today, and for your own family needs have to be the priorities. I would suggest you appoint an interior designer before thinking in detail about the kitchen. An interior designer will find out how you want to use the space and come up with clever floor plan that is workable and beautiful. This is going to be a really important investment for you. Could you switch the whole thing - have a big cupboard run on that wall with the pitched ceiling, and a nice big island where your table is. Move dining into the current kitchen area.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this! The Aga will be electric so putting it on the south wall is definitely an option! And like you say, with the extra light from the bifold doors, we could certainly have two smaller windows either side. I did try this on the DIY kitchen planner before, however it looked so dark but the plans that you have done make things look a lot brighter. I guess I depends on the software you are using. We had a large wine cooler planned for the island so this could certainly be replaced with a fridge. I have heard lots about Karen from Oneplan so this will probably be my next step now that I’m a little more clear on where things can fit! Thank you!
