De-magnolia the living room
Comments (16)Hi, I've written about magnolia and the colour psychology behind it on my blog. The article features an interview with colour expert and consultant Karen Haller and features lots of advice about living with magnolia and how to incorporate other colours into the decor scheme and what colours work best. You might find some of the advice useful when deciding what colours to choose. I took Karen's advice when accessorising my home and choose green accents and it looked absolutely lovely against the magnolia and my big brown sofa. I have since bought a flat which was also mostly magnolia. In the livingroom I kept two walls magnolia and again took Karen's advice and opted to paint two walls in a really warm shade of green. It looks and feels really lovely. I would never have thought of pairing green with magnolia before speaking with Karen. I hope you find this useful! http://www.thedesignsheppard.com/interviews/using-magnolia-in-interiors#sthash.zqybfCCh.dpbs...See MoreRug / Accessories help needed
Comments (2)Hi Mira, Wow what dramatic room! I love how you have used the dark and rich colours on your walls - it really makes your living room feel warm and inviting. Placing a rug within your living room will definitely be the finishing touch to your scheme, adding a homely and cosy feel to the room. I’d recommend designs which incorporate a combination of warm and cool neutrals along with a lustrous sheen, as this will create a feeling of movement, texture and light that will liven up any living space. I really love the contemporary graduating colour of this Designer’s Guild Eberson rug, which I think would really work in your living room: http://bit.ly/2cqi7wQ Complete the scheme by introducing accessories with metallic tones and finishes, such as below, which will inject an element of warmth and sophistication to your living area. It will really become an individual space that stands out from the crowd. http://bit.ly/2cHfwwq http://bit.ly/2c41LX1 http://bit.ly/2c5L02n http://bit.ly/2cqhzY2 I hope you have fun adding in the finishing touches and we’d love to see your new room once you’ve completed it, so please send some photos! Comments (2)I went a bit bonkers with a wall in my first place in the first few weeks of moving and wish I'd waited. I'd say go for a grey-tint coloured wall (can't tell if the room is very light or a darker room), or darker if you think the room can handle it. Leave it there for a while before trying something too bold. You could always DIY a geometric print as a large canvas/ couple of canvases? I've put alcove cupboards in either side of the fire place and put tv/books/photo albums and some bits and pieces up and it's brought so much colour to the room that I'm glad I didn't go hard in the colour. Will just be looking for some art for another wall. Also got a giant mirror in a lovely colour above the fire place....See MoreHelp with living room colours pretty please
Comments (2)Minnie and Grouse would suggest if you look at the Little Greene paint company they have some lovely green shades i.e. Olive oil for instance, green shades very on trend currently but also work well with natural woods, brickwork too. Add some green plants and change your cushions to some dark green i.e. velvet cushions this will completely transform your space. Plus I would group all your pictures together on one wall to the left and leave the mirror on the wall above the fireplace for a different look. Good luck!...See MoreJonathan
