Bifold doors 3.6m opening - are 1.2m doors too heavy?
Comments (2)In a previous house we had 3x1m aluminium bi fold doors. All doors stacked outside to the right. I loved them but I think anything larger than 1m panels would have been too heavy and unwieldy. One of the panels was our back door and clipped onto the second door to secure it. But a glass panel of 1.2m is a big door to be opening on a windy day. I would go for the 4x 1m option. On a warm sunny day it will be lovely to have that large opening. Ours were SE facing and some days they would be open from 7 am to bedtime. We only had one issue with them. Sometimes in hot weather they would swell and be difficult to close until they cooled down. However I have never heard of this happening before....See Morelooking for 6.5 m bifold doors quick lead times -

Comments (12)Ah, I understand. The hanging mechanism of mine has a spring which means that the door doesn’t fold up tight against itself - there would not be enough room for a lever handle, but the cup handle is fine. If you don’t have enough space perhaps flush fit handles would work? There are modern versions, but I rather like flush fit ring pulls. These are mostly intended for cabinets, but Willow and Stone sell some lovely examples in different sizes, and big enough to use on a folding door....See MoreRoom dividers - Are internal bifold doors dated? Comments (7)Technically bi-fold doors aren't old fashioned and work well in Scandinavian, Japanese, Japandi and other more minimalist interiors. Crittall internal doors are like blue jeans, they never go out of style even though they have been around for a long time. French doors with alot of glass are also old fashioned, but are considered a classic design approach that again, won't go out of style. Also French doors come a vast array of styles such as Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Farmhouse, Coastal, etc, so you can match them to pretty much any room style and make them look like a wise statement piece. Sliding barn style doors are fashionable 'to a degree', depending if your interior design is rustic, industrial or very wood heavy. Most UK houses are of an older style, so classic solutions such as French doors is usually the better way to go as it compliments the house and gives you the most flexibility. Keep in mind however that you can also divide rooms with dual direction fireplaces and large pieces of furniture as well....See Moresuzieclare123
