Living room so small ugly rental carpet any help

Hi living in a tiny rental flat i have my old furniture decor from my last bigger house which had wood floors i dont think they go in this room any advice i cant change magnolia paint not allowed want to get a white or ivory shaggy rug but shall i get one big one or two small ones to section the space . thanks in advance guys . shall i change my light as well .

Hi. I must admit the carpet looks fine in the photo but if it's grotty I would just get one rug. I'd go for something in a beigey colour as white will make the space feel smaller. Can you move the sofa away from the curtains just even a couple of inches? The throw is lovely but perhaps try it folded over the arm? I might also add a couple of lighter cushions, either something with the moss green or the bronze that's in the cushion. I'd also accessorise the coffee table ( include flowers or a plant for some greenery) and add art or a mirror over the sofa if allowed. Do you have a photo of the existing light?

Hi, sorry you feeling a bit fed up about your new home. I think it is the sofa that is the wrong colour, could you bring yourself to dye the sofa covers to match the curtains? That would bring the scheme together, and probably be a bit more toddler friendly than white or cream!

Hey everyone! Good to hear from you all again. We have 2 wks before we go back to school. It's been a busy summer but good. My boy (14) is in marching band and they've been practicing all summer for the fall football games. He is worn out. My girl has been playing with friends and is doing a bit of a room redo herself (she is 10). Nice to see you all are well. We took a weekend a bit ago to Chincoteague VA and it was great! Hello, I may be a little bias because my favorite colour is green..but I do think that green would look really nice :) For the study area, I have a photo below for you to use as a guide. For the TV section I would suggest you put a painting relating to music or something like what I have below as well. Overall I really love your tiny home :) It is simple and neat and pretty. There isn't much I would change besides the study area and the TV area. Hope I helped Best wishes xoxo

Hi Melanie, Here are a few suggestions we can offer to you. For a start, the light grey wall would look great with the blue sofa, if the rest of the walls was white so that it brightened up the room and didn't make it look enclosed. If your not too keen on the yellow on this then that doesn't matter as you can just add creams or beige's which will look great to. Micro Throw - Mocha I think you should paint the fireplace white as it will bring out more contrast between the colours and look better with the grey wall. Also instead of adding shelves next to the fireplace, add a couple on the wall at the side like above. Then you can add some photo frames to make it more warming and personal. For the lights I would probably suggest something like these, just as they will brighten the room up more and they are not too over powering. It’s a lovely wall colour and nice wooden pieces of furniture. But as you said it’s bit wood heavy. I would add more white. I’d maybe paint the fireplace mantel white and add a white shelving in the alcove (or add a floor mirror in the alcove, which would expand the space. Then you’d need to swap the mirror above the mantle to a an art). Hang some white shelves above the tv. Change the table to a lighter set, with more living room feel, upholstered chairs but the same time lighter, slimmer. I’d go with Scandinavian or midcentury design pieces. And create a designated dining area for the table. Move the light from the centre of the room to above the table and create a feature light. You can just add a longer light cord and hook it to a hook above the table. I think rug is a good idea, go for low pile colourful rugs to zone the lounge area. Put the tv stand straight and turn the tv to the angle you need instead. Even better, if you hang the tv on the wall with on an adjustable arm.
