Is staining older pine floorboards a dark stain, a no no?
Comments (5)Hi both - so sorry but this is a really old post (at least a year ago now! Lol) so we have already finished all the flooring. We ended up wimping out after sanding the kitchen and dining room and ended up putting wood flooring down. The wood was just too soft and we would have needed to fill in all the gaps as there was a draft through to the ground. However we did paint the main bedroom floor in white which I LOVE. Except .. on all the instructions I read online, no one mentioned priming with a knot blocker so I have to go over it all again as they are showing through and it looks grubby...See MoreFloorboards/Engineered wood/Amtico experiences please

Comments (13)Hi Neha, thanks a lot! With regards to the floor you are right I will need to wait for the extension, because I wanted to put the ceramic floor that looks like wood, but then we would definitely need the underfloor heating in the kitchen. But if the underfloor heating makes everything too expensive and too long then we would put wooden floor and in that case we might match the whole thing on the whole ground floor. I definitely want the hallway and kitchen to match as you can see the kitchen from the entrance, whether as the sitting room is on the right after a few steps in, and I could always put a brass threshold to split the colours. I guess I will have to suck it up and live with the floor and table not matching for a while (the table is coming in 6 weeks and is the only finish I could agree without me and my husband biting each other's heads off! haha). Thanks a lot and I will post a pic once the bookcase is up next week! E...See Moreaway427
