Blank canvas bedroom

It's a bit of a blank canvas but feels quite cool as its north facing

I also need some bookshelves and a workspace and maybe some storage for random junk I own too as I am living with parents
I was thinking of a floating desk as I don't want the room too cluttered

I need more clothes storage too so I'm thinking of getting a large two door sliding wardrobe (not built in).

I don't like any of the current furniture except maybe my bed as it has really great storage but I was thinking of making some sort of headboard feature as the room is so modern and featureless!

I'm thinking of layering net curtains over the blinds but the windows touch the ceiling so I don't know how that would work?

Wire randomly popping out of ceiling to one side of room (strange builders who also put the lights up very off centre in the ceiling) which I could use to create a lighting feature?

In terms of style, I really like industrial elements like Edison bulbs and was thinking of some sort of hanging light above a bedside table sort of thing?

Im considering going dark on the walls, I do get some light because it's a relatively small room and the windows are quite big. The only thing is I spend a lot of time in my room in the day too working, reading, with friends etc. and don't know how it might feel in the day. Possibly a dark warmer grey. With burnt orange and mustard accents?
Or a warm dark colour on the walls

I'd like advice on paint colours, layout what to do with that wire poking out the ceiling and anything else really.

Any ideas are really appreciated

It is important to think about the actual space you are decorating the room looks relatively cosy so warm colours (reds, oranges etc) will bring it in more yes it will make it cosy but may start to make it feel too compact !!! Cooler colours will help to push the room out but predominantly they can look cold and are used a lot in bathrooms to help maximise the space I suggest something like amonite by farrow and ball

Hi Jenny, the low cornice in your bedroom is a good feature to play with in the colour scheme. It is always effective to paint wood works in a darker shade than the walls. It gives character to the room. In warm greys, we would suggest Farrow&Ball Ammonite for the walls and Purbeck Stone for the cornice and door next to the window. These are the 2 shades around Cornforth White in the colour chart. You will have a nice contract with the white ceiling coming down to the cornice. Think also about window dressing to incorporate to your scheme. What about a roman blind with white and grey borders to echo the walls and ceiling and a 3rd colour to add some interest? See the example of the blind in the picture below where the warm blue brings live and interest to the neutrals grey and white. How about adding small color details, such as gorgeous luxury cushions or bed spread? It doesn't have to be big or expensive to add a touch of color. The rest of the bedroom can be grey or cream, and a small color cushion can make a huge impact then :)

I like the idea of tying it in - I'd be a bit worried about painting all the walls in that colour as it may be too dark. My other thought was to continue the tongue and groove panelling around (same as the built in wardrobe finish) but costwise I think that would be too much and the same two wall dilemma would occur. I am also going to make a nice new tall headboard - I like the look of the lighter coloured one against the dark blue in your pics
