need help to re-design a space i've chosen

I'm currently working on a project called new horizons, and i have decide to look at interior design, i have decide to take pictures of a local space in my area to re-design. i have also design to make a design board with my ideas but i'm struggle on how to start it ?

Hello Anna,

Well succinctly and without really knowing more information..

Why not start by identifying what it is that you wish to change about the area you have chosen.. Then present these ideas as a design board or mood board. that has the theme, vision of what you're aiming for.

When it comes to putting a presentation together work through the problem in pieces.. Start by thinking what needs to change from the "brief" and then how you wish the end result to look.. Then it's a series of step by step ideas, design and aesthetics to achieve this, not to mention problem solving and solution based information.. If you are presenting from your point of view then you can work the idea from 1 viewpoint or perhaps present several ideas based on parameters given or environmental for example that may dictate one thing or another... : ))

I don't think you're going to fit in the downstairs loo at this point. It compromises the existing space and would be better left until you extend again in a few years. I noticed that you took down the wall between the lounge and the kitchen, is this a supporting wall?? You did put the little wall returns supporting an RSJ presumably in one of your plans, but took it away on the other. I think it's better to keep the formal lounge seperate, but with door that you can open if you want to. I've done you a before you extend and after you extend plan. I think it's better planning for the future to save on the expense now and not having to re-do. ( Hope that makes sense! )The future !

Hi Heidi, I did a lot of work in Cannes last year, its a lovely location. The apartment looks wonderful, lots of strong architectural details, good proportions and light flooding into the space, a good start !! You really need someone you can discuss the project with who has the ability to visualise a concept based on your preferences and get those ideas down on paper. Your going to be inundated with designers who will pitch for this project. You need to consider four factors. 1 Do they have the ability to do the work. 2 Can they get on your wavelength so the interior captures your aspirations. 2 Are their fees reasonable and grounded in reality. 3 Can they present their ideas with artists impressions to illustrate their ideas. Taking into consideration all the above there is one final consideration. "Can you work with this person ?" This sounds like an abstract statement but an interior like this is the realisation of a dream for you, it should be a joy and as such you need to work with a designer that is both professional and on your wavelength from a personality perspective. On that basis you need to interview a quite a few designers. You need to be comfortable with that individual and have the confidence that he / she can produce a scheme that matches your tastes and have the ability to make it a reality. Yes paint your front door. I did mine with Rustoleum paint and primer on one, from Homebase.... £19 a tin which did 3 Coates. 2 outside 1 inside. So easy. Saved me buying a new door. Before and after photos!!

Agree with going for the pocket doors. You may likely have to build out the wall so the pockets have something to recess into, otherwise you could go for Japanese style sliding doors that slide along the face of the wall. I personally don't think you have the space for that large a dining table, it's too wide. As others as suggested I'd replace with a extendable table. I've done 2 layouts, option 1 with your 1m wide table, option 2 with a 80cm wide table and a bench. It doesn't quite meet the 1m clearance rule but it gives you more wiggle room.
