Thank-you One Plan, yes, I agree, plain glass might be easiest, presumably toughened for behind a gas hob?, but I do love colour and the handmade slightly rustic feel feel, so wondering if anything more decorative might work?, although I can see the point for keeping the bricks on show behind glass. Planning terracotta floor tiles, beech, red, cream and possibly copper accents, but at the moment the space is still being built!

Rubbish! if the ceramic tiles are glazed than they are just like glass!! So often lots of people they use the wrong terminology to describe a product.....and they are getting it terribly wrong! Ceramic glazed tiles are just perfect for a splash back so you can clean them very easy, use those one if you like them and remember small grouting gaps in between them, your builder might not like the idea, but you will notice less grease mark on those behind the hob. hmm....use also waterproof fine grout!

The 'metro' tiles would work well with the cream. The example at the Topps Tiles site is very similar (http://www.toppstiles.co.uk/tprod966/metro-white-tile.html) and will probably help you decide. The 'metro' tiles glazing will 'amplify' any light that is available in your kitchen. The pattern of the metro tile also suits the 'line' design on your cupboards. I would suggest a very plain light grey tile without any grain for the floor to add just a little touch of a contemporary modern flair to the whole composition. The light grey will help create a 'base' to the whole layout and also help 'sober' down the cupboard and tile colours. I hope this helps.
