Bedroom needs a makeover
Comments (13)Hi. I would probably declutter first. There is an awful lot of furniture in the room. I would get rid of the cabinet on the fireplace wall and move the tv on top of the chest of drawers. Remove the coffee tables and the pine chair and the items on top of the wardrobe. I'd remove the 3 pictures and replace with a very large piece of art, I don't know what you like but something vintage or contemporary ie travel, cinema, typography, street signs etc. Walls could look good in grey but choose a warmer grey, a cold grey doesn't look as it if would work. Or you could go for a rich, deep colour on a feature wall. What colours, style do you like? New bedding to coordinate and I'd add just one large statement cushion. I'd also add a bigger mirror in the room. Do you have pictures of the other side of the room? Buy a nice bin, some of the wire industriał style ones look good....See MoreRenovation of two 1890's back to back houses
Comments (4)We have renovated many victorian homes from top to bottom. I personally like to have the whole house finished ( more or less ) in my head before one brick comes out. I appreciate that not everybody is great on 'vision and forethought', however, you are going to have to decide on the basics very early on, due to plumbing and electrics. So.........know where you're sticking bathrooms ( and find out what is possible soil pipe and drains wise first, don't just think,,,,i'll put it here and then find out it can't be done. Victorian drainage systems are great! - no i'm joking!! Drainage has to be run past your water company also ( sometimes ). Also, pretty much everything these days has to be run past Building Regs at your local council, and it's best to get them on side early on, they'll help you with what has to be done and in what order. So, a lot to consider befor you even begin. If I were you, i'd seek professional help. Architects are fabulous, but they won't usually have a clue when it comes to aesthetics. You really need a project manager, they'll make sure everything is done in the right order!! I know they can be expensive, but honestly, unless you are really great at it yourself, then they will save you a fortune in the end, or you may face hold ups galore! Time is money! I use http://floorplanner.com ( it's not so hard to master) you can draw out your basic plan and then blow it up in 3d, this helps visualise stuff, then you can move it around until you're happy....See MoreNeed Kitchen Makeover Help!
Comments (9)Hi lovely, I agree with the comments above you are better off gutting and replacing the entire lot. How you go about it is entirely different ball game altogether and depends on how much managing you like to do yourself. For example, you could go to a kitchen company and have them fit out the entire kitchen however you will be restricted to their materials, designs and styles. You can however choose different items and materials and have a builder fit the kitchen. All kitchens have the pretty much the same caucuses it's the front unit doors which are different. It really depends on your style and budget and what you are happy to do. In terms of interior design aspect, I would add some open shelves if you are open to it as this will make the space feel bigger. I don't know if you have one, but a full height unit might be in order as well. Hope that helps Rukmini Patel Interior Design...See MoreMini bathroom makeover - design advice needed!
Comments (7)Wallpaper will definitely give the room some interest. The tiles themselves aren’t horrendous, and the smaller ones are a good look. I think it is just the expanse of single wall colour which makes it seem bland. Jonathan’s suggestion will bring some drama to the space....See Moremotownmom
