Terrible with colours

I am moving into an apartment in ecuador with windows on one side. Huge yard with brick walls. Long entrance hall separating front bedroom and kitchen, and this corridor extends past another hallway with two more bedrooms, and then to the back stairs leading up to another doorway. No natural light. The wall past the secondhallway is half high along the dining/sitting area. Huge windows let in a lot of light to kitchen and bedroom, Then open concept with long bar in kitchen , dining/sitting to back wall. It is actually a square.

so I need to repaint kitchen dining sitting and both hallways. I have an artisanal hanging in wool with natural background and figures in black, dark mustard, wine and grey, bordered in deep brown and already have three blanket 'throws' that pick up mostly the wine colour but some of the other colours, including a natural back ground prominent on one of the blankets. There is a huge light fixture in the dining sitting area. The second bedroom has a window in the extended hall way and another along the second hallway with natural/beige curtains.

BTW, the kitchen bar that separates kitchen from dining/sitting has a black/white/grey granite counter top. My furniture : sitting area combo of light pine, sunkissed burtch and local hemp with the wine, natural, black (dramatic IKEA chair with stark black cushions) and a multicoloured pillow accents. dinning is a family heirloom walnut gate leg table and chairs stained that older almost black brown that is wearing off. Unfortunately from days gone by I have a complete set of white dishes with blue trim ( my colours used to be yellow green and blue) and quite a bit of blue and white accent pieces. is there any hope? I must admit that I am seriously considering putting the Ecuador materials and wall hanging into the bedroom and reverting back to the pale butter yellow walls and blue green scheme that I used to have. the granite counter top I could see as just another black accent as in a floor lamp and electronics???? and perhaps the top of the half wall?

I suspect that the ground floor had a hallway previously, I would be tempted to reinstate a smaller version hallway but not as far as the staircase with maybe another inner door and create room for coats shoes etc to be stored in this area. This will create a cosier seating area near the window. I agree with others that a sofa across the room near the stairs would create a more workable lounge with maybe a dining table behind. I would certainly keep the double doors maybe a bi-fold version to give more space and install doors to the open shelves to unify the kitchen.

Thanks @colourhappy :-) I know I bang on a bit about it but it is a fantastic grey for anyone wanting to go dark but afraid of it feeling really cold, I tried loads but this one hit the spot for me, I originally got it as a premixed colour from Homebase, done a wall and loved it, they discontinued it and I then discovered that you can get it mixed! The scrubbable Matt takes so much abuse, usually any dark coloured paint that you wipe can leave water marks, not this, I’ve scrubbed grease of it that accidentally splashed on it and no issues! Big head up for crown paint in general, esp the scrubbable range, covers so well and lovely to paint with.

Hi, Personally if going for a rainbow wall then keep the flooring a simple lighter colour, beige/grey to allow the walls to pop. We have a games room for my daughter and we went for an oak effect laminate flooring, saves cleaning carpet and looks great. Best of luck. Matt
