Comments (27)That makes absolute sense. We're going vinyl but cheap and it needs to be boarded but a friend is doing that. If it rips we can then replace really cheaply. Yes, a mirror is a must as the window is quite small with obscured glass. We only moved last year but the en suite didn't appear to have ever been used. It's nice but with porcelain tiles that are a nightmare to keep clean. We got lucky with the bathroom. Fittings are quite old but it's wood panelled all round with a cast iron bath and a couple of sash windows. It did have yellow walls and a dark green bath but I painted the bath black with elephants breath on the panelled walls. I'm going to repaint the walls though as it's not a real wow and it could be. Comments (21)Hello Yan, wanted to show you an idea of colour scheme for your bathroom. I decided to keep up with your layout idea and I noticed you like grey and wood in interior. In addition, SA contemporary style isn't much about colours but more about textures to keep interior simple and rich. In general, interior is neutral with couple of small colour accents, which can be easily updated or changed in time. There is no drama that sink in front of window! Moreover it gives fantastic advantages to use natural light. You can hang oval mirror at the window frame. In the evening hours, you can use illumination from wall light above window. Flooring is grey brushed concrete tiles with soft matt texture. Wood like porcelain tiles use for walls from the left and right, including curves. That's how you unite broken wall on a left and make it longer and identical. Tiles for walls around window and the opposite side ( including all curves and around door) should be the same - light grey with stone like texture. Grey tone on walls is lighter than on a floor. Comments (30)Hi guys, I am back again with a bathroom query, I have an image attached. I really don't like the current layout for this bathroom and I'm thinking if we move the toilet to the wall on the left under the sink and put the bathroom vanity where the toilet currently is so that this is the first thing the person sees when the door is open. Do you think this works? Again advice is hugely appreciated. I honestly had no idea finalising bathrooms would be so difficult, and the support I have received on Houzz has been the best of any professional I have met so far so thank you all! 8 years agolast modified: 8 years agoIf your bathroom size is 3m x 3m you will be able to easily put both, a shower and a bath tub. As to the toilet going on the wall where window is - it all really depends where the stack pipe is. Naturally it will be much easier for the toilet to be as close to the stack, but you can always box the pipe. Running it fully under the floor is not possible due to the size and can only be partial not to weaken the joists too much.
I have drafted a quick layout for you with two options A and B. The difference is that option A has a smaller vanity unit, single washbasin and a mirror, while option B has a larger vanity unit, two washbasin and no mirror. Both layouts give you a decent size (1m x 1m) walk-in shower (wetroom) and a good size bath tub (2m x 0.9m).
You can really shuffle things around here and for example have a bath tub by the window (upper corner opposite of the door, where toilet is now on the plan) and toilet next to it (pipe can be easily concealed under the tub). Possibly two washbasins with vanity unit and a mirror to the left of the toilet and a shower opposite to it with potential of having a washing machine (where the vanity unit is on option A). Let me know what you think and we can draft some more layouts.
