Where to put ovens, hob and sink?
Comments (10)Hi Jennie, From reading, It seems like you have a good idea with what to do with the space. You're right with the right side being a little restrictive with what you can do... so in that case, we would suggest a run of units similar to the picture attached, less the appliances for safety, unless it were coffee machine, or something similar. This could be mirrored in some way on the opposite side (space/height permitting), allowing you to have the built in wall ovens.I also agree that the hob/ovens should be over on the left side, this should definitely be the quieter side of the kitchen with regards to traffic. I wouldn't suggesting running the units down the entire wall though, it can be expensive (what ever your budget), plus it doesn't really allow the kitchen to have an end. With the regards to the island, would you want a breakfast bar with such a space? Also, if you are looking at granite/quartz worktop, you'll need to bear in mind that they are only available to a certain size (3150 x 1400), some are slightly bigger. I would include the sink on the island, probably with the hob to make it near the ovens... depending on the style you are looking at and what the island needs to do for you, we could have a few ideas that you could work with. Comments (1)I would go for underneath the cupboards as it is a functional option too. If you have cupboards like these and standard track lighting or similar in your kitchen (as I do), you invariably end up casting a shadow on your food when you prepare it and these would counteract that. When I finally get around to redoing my kitchen, this would be the plan I think!...See MoreWhere to put everything for minimalist and practical kitchen
Comments (6)I'm lucky enough to have the luxury of a spare room, so the ironing board lives on the back of that door. Just 2 coat hooks screwed in at the right distance means you can hang the board there, but I like the board and iron holder someone's posted above to store them both together. You could do the same on any door (under stairs cupboard, even kitchen door). I wouldnt give prime cabinet space in a small kitchen to an ironing board. I samosa fold all of my plastic bags (you can google it and after a few goes it takes literally seconds) which means that I can keep them in a very small box under my sink and they stay neat and don't all fly out when you try to pull out one. Ikea do a little towel rail that fits inside a base cabinet which keeps tea towels out of the way but hanging up so that they dry out.https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/utrusta-towel-rail-white-50247216/ I don't have any pets so I can't help you with that one, sorry!...See Morewhat to put on shelf above kitchen sink?
Comments (7)Here's a lovely example - they are small built in shelves, but give the idea. A carefully curated set of pictures and glassware works well - but remember that the items will get dirty more quickly than elsewhere in the house so be prepared to give them a regular clean or wipe!...See MoreBow Sward
