Face-lift for exterior of 60's house. Advice please?
Comments (5)Thank you both. Unfortunately the door is uPVC so can't be painted ... Yes I can see that the path should be wider too - any suggestion for colour? Light grey or beige (don't like that word!)? Can anyone offer ideas for the garden - some kind of boundary and also planting?...See More40-Something, feeling middle-aged and in need of a face-lift?

Comments (2)This all depends on your budget and what will be allowed by planning. In my opinion it is the window proportions and the balcony that date this house so updating both won’t help- they need to be removed. If your budget is healthy then consider building above the front reception room so that there is a front gable. Then continue the sloped roof of the garage over the front door. Then the front of the house can be refaced- You need to choose something that compliments the streets scape but whatever you choose it gives you the opportunity to change the windows. I think that you should find a local designer to help, consider your budget, speak to the local planning office to get an idea about what may be acceptable and look for inspiration locally and pictures online....See Morecolour suggestions for east facing kitchen diner.

Get some sample pots and paint onto A4 card and then blue tack them to the walls in different places to get a better idea of how they would look in different lights. Below, in order, is Timeless, Pointing and Slaked Lime....See MoreLeo Pickford
