Suggestions needed for colourful kitchen units for modest cost
Comments (11)I think you should be able to paint some ikea doors as they do a couple of styles in wood (with some veneers, I think). They have also started doing very vibrant blue wardrobes so who knows what you might find in the kitchen department. Another suggestion would be to get some plainer units but buy a second hand dresser that could be painted any colour. You might also find that some bespoke units might be affordable - I imagine that with your style you might go for open shelving and freestanding appliances so you'd need to purchase very few units ( for our last kitchen we literally only purchased 3 base units + a wooden trolley from ikea)....See MoreWall colour to unite oddly coloured furniture
Comments (15)Hello there, I was a rep for Benjamin Moore paints and have worked with a lot of paint colours - they have 3500 in the full collection! For a small room you need a colour with warmth in it a hint of yellow to reflect the light but it will predominantly depend on the colour and amount of light coming in to your room. I would be happy to order some large samples of colour sheets that are sprayed in the actual colour so you can check the tone works in your room free of charge. I would think a colour called Balboa Mist or around this tone would work, this is what the Americans call a 'Greige' a warm grey. Please drop me a email simren@jagdev.com. Comments (15)In my opinion it is the saturation level of the paint that is the problem. The beauty of your kitchen is the natural flooring and the wooden worktops, it looks earthy. This is swamped by the blue paint, it just looks wrong. Without seeing the cupboard door colours close up it is tricky but I would suggest looking for something a bit darker than the cupboards but with the same hue. If you want a strong contrasting wall a deep olive green would work as it would balance the wood and the purpley greys....See MoreKitchen Unit Colour Help!
Comments (9)Hi @brynna_vetch How exciting taking the plunge and choosing colours! I really like the green, it looks like a really nice medium warm green which is perfect for your space. There's two ways I would be inclined to go with this - either commit to the green and have them all in harmony with each other. It would certainly keep the kitchen looking consistent and add some more colour to the room - you're so lucky to have such a bright space. Or you could keep a contrast but in a subtle way - maybe look at having an off white colour to match the walls (possibly a really really light dove grey) for the rest of the units that are already undercoated. I would always tend to say make the island the darkest colour so it feels freestanding and becomes the feature of the room. If you want my personal opinion, I would say go for the green all round. It's a lovely colour and I don't think in years to come you will be bored of it. Good luck and please update us with what you decide/photos :) Charlie @ The Kitchen Lady UK www.thekitchenladyuk.co.uk...See MoreNicole Lynn
