Design Advice for 3.5x3.9m Living/Dining Room with 3 Doors & 2 Windows
Comments (9)Hi there! You can put the dining table next to the kitchen door, which would help you organise the space and fit for purpose. I personally prefer a round table as that gives you a little more space. For the living room the armchair must be small, we do not want the space to appear narrower. You can enclose the space with an ottoman, to have a complete living room. I recommend that you put the sofa facing the kitchen door, that way you have an integrated space. Here's a little sketch to illustrate what I mean. Comments (10)I agree with E D the middle pic looks really good!! if your finding it expensive to paint the outside of the house and you really really hate it why don't you buy some paint and give it a go yourself? as you can see in the attached pic the contrast of black door and white house looks good 🤩 I think the new window frame option looks good too 👍🏼 or how about getting frames like the pic attached?? it would be 'less fussy' as E D says...See More1930s semi-detached, lounge that has become a corridor?
Comments (4)We had a similar problem, but didn't realise it. The builder took one look and said, "This living room is just a corridor !" No seating arrangment worked well. In the end, we moved the boiler from its cupboard (which took off a whole corner of the room !) and put it in the utility room elsewhere; used that area as the new doorway, so it was then just a few steps to the double doors leading to the dining room. That meant we could have an uninterrupted area to sit and entertain in near the window - a bit like Wumi's suggestion above. It really does matter where the doorways are ! At present, your problem is compounded by the fact that you HAVE to walk right through the middle of the living room to get to the kitched from the front door....See MoreHelp me choose a new colour for my windows and doors
Comments (2)Maybe try some of the stone colours, this is Serpentine. Or maybe F&B Mouse’s back Are the decorators happy to paint without scaffolding? if not, I’d get the render painted at the same time as scaffolding for a house this size costs thousands At minimum I’d probably have them tone down the yellow on the quoins, window frames etc Congratulations, looks a lovely house!...See MoreJonathan
