Before and After Conservatory

Hello All,

We have just redecorated our conservatory. We wanted to make it feel a little colourful and link in with the garden plus we used a similar shade of green in our lounge so it links nicely through. The colour is Laura Ashley hedgerow and we have accessorised with some cushions from dunelm and homebase. Anybody got any thoughts?

Looks more like a living room than a typical conservatory. Very calming colour scheme, seems perfect for relaxing. Well done!

Hi Anita, thank you for your lovely comments. We do not use green oak on our orangeries based on the fact that the timber will move too much when it is exposed to changes in temperatures (heating internally) in this state and could cause breakages in the glass or encourage leaks. Instead, we season our own oak (allow the timber to dry out naturally) and select the most suitable timbers for each position, obviously it is a natural product so it will still move but it will have a lot less movement due to the fact the majority of the moisture in the centre of the beam should have already dried out. Thanks Minnie101 and NK With respect to the ground floor WC to bathroom - I was thinking of knocking the wall partition between utility and WC and then utilising some extra space for shower - something probably like this photo attached rather than fully enclosed shower cubicle - If could do this then I am probably thinking to leave the WC and Wash basin as it is in its place Conservatory in the future we have an idea of making it into a proper extension and that use that as entertainment room and making the current living room purely as a sitting room with fireplace - and then knocking the wall between kitchen and dinner and making it as a open plan kitchen / dinner - but thats all after we settle in and then thinking in 1-2 years time I guess

The layout is much better but it's a bit busy for me. I'd have fewer formal accessories (such as cushions and the plant and photo on the window sill seem out of place to me) and fewer bits and pieces overall. I'd put something much bigger on the wall behind the sofa or have many more pictures on it, adding them around what there is already. And I agree that the rug could be bigger.

Like the bottom very much, not sure about the top, a bit 'churchy' for me, and maybe not on a bungalow..................maybe if it's a fabulous view. Hope they've got good window coverings in mind for the bedroom area, wouldn't get a wink of sleep with that amount of glass. We've got 'solar' glass in our conservatory and although it's north facing we still get the sun for a couple of hours every afternoon. We still die of heat exhaustion, this year was the worst, and we're sun worshipers..............had to buy sun sails to shield it. I'm wondering how that amount of glass would affect the temperature in the house? Maybe it's made better than it was 6-7 years ago?

Lovely colour green. I’d be tempted to replace the chairs with a chaise longue so I could put my feet up and “supervise” the garden from that side of the room without craning my neck!
