Need help on kitchen splashback area please!!

Hello, please could someone help us. We are adding finishing touches to our new kitchen and can't decide what colour tiles to use for aga splashback. We like the brick shape tiles......had originally thought of cream ones but will this look ok? Photo shows fake chimney breast in early stages. this will be painted same cream colour as walls with a white painted timber cornice around the bottom.

Should the splashback tiles be cream or grey like the floor or black like the aga top?

Hi I think these country metro tiles would look great they come in a variety of shades of green and grey s you can mix them up. The finish is a slightly bumpy rustic texture that will go well with your arga. These are from walls and floors

Hi rubydiffey,

I agree with Kharis & Kale, a metro tile would be great using a couple of colours to create a pattern and some interest.

There is another company that uses a slightly different shaped tiles to create a pattern in the tiles. You could add a second colour to it too if you wanted.

Pity you have decided against glass in favour of tiles. We have just done our kitchen and I wanted an easy-to-clean surface for the splash back, so the rough surface of grouting around tiles, and also the indentations on some patterned tiles (which collect grease and grime) ruled them out for me! I went for glass, which the manufacturers matched exactly to the duck egg paint colour on the other walls (just gave them a product code of the paint), and although the initial outlay for the glass was expensive, the surface is so brilliant to keep clean and it looks fab as well. I would definitely recommend, and you could match it to, say, your lovely pink/purple ceiling lights ...

Help me choose kitchen worktops and possible splashback/tiles

Hi, I've now had quartz worktops fitted in a white with grey and mirror flecks (compact lactea) & attach photos. Cabinets are all done too. My next area is what to do for splashback behind the hob/under the extractor. I originally wanted to do red glass across the length of the wall, but we have had under unit lights fitted below the higher cabinets and at night I can change these to any colour I want. If I do red all across I won't get the effect of the lights. Not even sure red would go? The wooden chairs are going and will be replaced & I still need to choose my island lights (thinking 3 pendants hanging). Husband thinks stainless steel sheet behind hob. I'm not sure this will look right with dark glass hob under it & wonder if it is hard to look clean all the time. What ideas do you all have as you helped with the worktops. I also show the dining table and the new open lounge area (intend to put a rug down). We also still need to find wall lights.

Hi Sassy G, It's great how much natural light you are getting into this space from the patio doors and the light fixtures and fittings will help create the feel of a bigger space. For the Living Area: I would suggest a 2 seater against the back wall (as per your plan) and a small coffee table in front with your 2 cocktail chairs facing inwards. This helps create the feel of a separate living area but also accommodates for additional seating for guests. Or instead of the 2 cocktail chairs you could have an upholstered storage bench which doubles up as storage as well as seating. This is also great because it keeps the openness of the space. For the Kitchen: For the splashback I think a high gloss teal finish would look lovely here. It adds a splash of colour, its bright (but not too bright) and different and would look great against your current worktop. Paint ideas: Having an off white colour is a good choice for the living and dining area. You could also try two different paint colours for each of these rooms to help break up the space or incorporate a feature all paint colour such as Farrow and Ball 'Peignoir'. Your ideas are great and it will turn out lovely. I love the exposed brick look. You can get brick slips so you put them on like tiles. I'm currently doing my kitchen and putting these in, am still looking for a company that has the right colour I'm going for. Your kitchen looks really good so far by the way!

Just for AGA cooker zone: classical creams, bottle green or deep forest green tiles (~aga colour) for elegant and practical touch.
It is not for whole worktop zone!!!

I'd be aiming to get at least a hint of green (but not as dark as the aga green) into the tiling but whatever you do, do not use black tiles! That would be a killer!
