I would like to combine my Kitchen and living room area.

I have am installing a stove in the living room. The Kitchen and living room are divided a wall and I would like to have them as one. Divided by Kitchen island perhaps.

Hi- just an fyi, I'm American and we Americans do NOT use real wood for weatherboarding!!! 20-30 years ago ppl used vinyl but that had issues, now they use a very strong resin board. No rotting or painting.

I really want to give it a face lift.. My cupboards are light oak which are only three years old and as good as new . I would like to change the work tops and floor covering which are light in color tiled but I don't want dark as I have a new puppy. my walls are plain painted plain with a few canvas hanging on the walls I wish to keep these . My color scheme in the computer / dining room is red and several shades of beige with a black stripe on the chairs., which I don't want to change these colors. My dining room is combined it this (open Plan) which has beige carpet which I wish to change. Any suggestions would help. Kind regards J Hewitt

I like the runners and curtains idea. I have seen it used a lot recently including in this restaurant. There are lots of options on materials you can use making it versatile with your style or design and easy to maintain with cleaning. It also allows the space to be versatile like with here where they can open up different areas as it is needed. If you want to go another level you can even add in lighting above the curtains to add some drama and interest in texture - as well as adding to your lighting layers or zoning within the space.

Hi. Personally I'd put a slatted room divider (just the unit width) at the end of the sink run to allow light and zone the kitchen area slightly. (I will try and find a picture showing the same in a similar kitchen). Assuming the fridge isn't staying, I'd just buy a white one so it blends in, maybe like a retro style one as they look a bit prettier. I'd also opt for a round table. You could paint the wall (and rad) behind the table a darker/warmer colour and add art. Hang the light low over the table to zone it and maybe have a mirror or mirror tiles on the left wall. You could also consider acrylic chairs as they don't visually fill the space. I'd go for a wider curtain pole to maximise light coming in. Sofa, choose something on legs with narrow arms, being able to see the floor will make the room bigger and maximise seating. I also wouldn't choose anything dark as it could take over the room, just use dark/warm colours for cushions and throw if wanted. There are plug in wall lights around which won't take up any floor space. I don't know if you need storage but you should be able to fit a sideboard between the dining and living area? Re shopping suggestions, you don't have any ideabooks set up so could you give people an idea of styles and colours you like?
