laundry in the family bathroom

I will soon be moving to a 4 storey Victorian house and hope to minimise trips up and down stairs with clean/dirty laundry by housing a washing machine in the family on the first floor. The room has high ceilings and is approximately 12' x 12'.

The bathroom needs a complete overhaul and I would like to conceal the washing machine in a unit, fit a roll top cast iron bath I have restored and opt for underfloor heating.

Seeing photgraphs or images of bathrooms which combine contemporary and original Victorian features would be really helpful. Thank you

whizzywig and Man About the House, I have measured and measured and it seems I can’t have a shower more than 80x 80cm after the stud wall , that leaves me 80cm for basin. My concern is if it’s too small a shower, and we will all be mostly using the shower, it maybe too tight. It’s also not a lot of space for two ppl to stand at the basin with storage at the bottom and being hindered by the shower glass on one end and open door at the other. I would not take the basin or rad or anything behind the door as it’s really awkward using it. .. still thinking about this. Am I trying to cram too much in when I and not getting enough room for shower or basin, when I can have a roomy shower in the bathtub ( it’s 1500 x 950) and a twin sinks with counter space ( especially as the girls grow and more than on one will be in there at the same time. I know having a separate bath and shower is a luxury, but only one person can be in there showering or bathing at one time given that they all like their privacy even now.

All i would advise with your original plan is to maybe put in some half height/full height boxing to cover the soil pipe run and maybe have the bath on the wall next to the w/c. A douche idea is an option as you then wont need a bidet and at the end of the shower you can add your towel rail. Overall i think your layout works. I do agree with One plan, keep the pan as close to the soil pipe. The other layout option is Lyuda's idea but again you will need to cover up the soil pipe.

Hi, we wanted to reconfigure the existing extension in the house but are stuck because we don't know what to do with the bathroom/laundry space adjoining it. It's an awkward space overall. The utility leads to the bathroom at the moment. 1. We do want a guest bathroom downstairs, happy to reduce the size of the guest bathroom if we can increase the kitchen area somehow. 2.
