Comments (5)There are no rules about skirting boards, it's just a matter of personal taste. Personally, I prefer to see the tiles go right down to the floor because it gives a cleaner look. If your house is fairly modern, then removing the skirting and tiling over shouldn't be a problem. Comments (1)Your husband is definitely right in that it would be easier to keep the WC separate. However, whether it would be better to join the two rooms is quite another issue. Most often, we join bathrooms and WCs to give a greater feeling of space and (as an incidental plus point) less wall to maintain.
