Is it important to have external access to rear garden?
Comments (7)i assume there is no other access point? Personally, I would want access to the garden and somewhere to keep the bins. II don't know how long you plan on staying in the house but it could put potential buyers off in the future especially if they want to do any major work there as it's just not practical. The path need only be c3ft wide. I assume your garage is at least 10ft wide which would seem fine for a shower room and small utility. Obviously if it is a double garage then there should be plenty of space for narrow rooms. It does also give you the opportunity for a side window but I don't know how much let would actually come in. It may help if you post the plan on here then the pros can take a look...See MoreWhat's the most British thing about your home?
Comments (67)To add to my earlier comment, I think my individualism epitomises the very essence of being a true Brit. I'm not a slave to trends, just go with my heart and hope my design ideas will come together in some sort of coherent way. There's pride in that in spades, and we're a proud nation, aren't we?!...See MoreMost impolite thing a guest can do?
Comments (88)We had a relative stay in our home for one night as she was moving on after, we live at the side of a railway line in a two bed ( everybody starts from somewhere) but we are used to this, a train only takes 30 seconds to pass so don't really notice it, my wife and I left for the day to go to work and left our guest to lock up on leaving, we had cooked the evening meal the night before and left her instructions on where everything was for breakfast. We both thought that all was fine until talking to another relative and found out that she would never stay with us again as she got no sleep due to the trains, walls were so thin she could hear everything inc plumbing noises heating kicking in and so on, and to this day she has not been back!...See MoreMost important asset a pro can have?
Comments (7)Hello Emmeline, I think a professional should be adaptable, able to intuit and interpret the clients needs and that of their home or space worked on. Having a range of skills is obviously as important as is their particular skill set. Respect and trust goes both ways. Whether you're a whole turnkey service or not.. That doesn't matter.. All that matters is that all the parties involved in the project are working together with full information, budgets, requirements and respect for each other and the client. Now a little note on newer pro's and companies.. For companies or Pro's that are "new" emerging etc etc as nobody talks about this in a positive light from what I have read here.. Years of experience and so forth are nothing if there's no skill.. There are plenty of new companies that A don't have years of experience B masses of clients etc etc.. but as with any company or professional that has say 10-15 years experience or more.. I'd be looking less at the longevity, "experience" and more at their skill, flair and how they carry themselves.. It's no good being told someone has 20 years experience if they're terrible at what they do.. As with every pro or company everyone was new at some point. I had recently been told by someone gleefully he had 15 years experience in his trade... His work was the worst I have ever seen! For me... Skill, creativity, kindness and flair! : ))...See MorePeter Reader Landscapes
