Thank you both very much. I think we will stick with white (as we are not changing the right hand side door for the time being) and we will remove the small top sections on the windows to keep them bigger and cleaner and add lead lines for those front windows (and no lead line at the back of the house as there is a modern extension anyhow).

We also have a glass roofed conservatory. We wish we'd asked for an opener in the roof. but didn't think! The glass in the windows is what causes the cold as the roof is better insulated glass. We gave up and bought curtains ( very thick ) which pull right round and out of the way. They definitely do the job. Also, when the door is open in the summer, we pull one curtain round so that it comes halfway down the door and it stops the flies!. I can't imagine that any blinds would have the same insulation properties as a thick curtain. When we pull the curtains back in the winter to let the sun in, in the morning, the cold floods in. You can barely see the curtains when pulled back against the little half wall. We have a track right round in white which you also don't really notice.

I think it would make a lot of difference if you had outside lights highlighting plants and keep the light level very low in conservatory itself so your eye is drawn outside when you look that way. I’d be doing everything I could not to highlight the white frames of the conservatory at night. A bit like Beano said about gloss white v Matt white on sofa I would be really tempted to paint the frames Matt white. And I would be hanging plants in the conservatory itself too and positioning some soft lights to highlight plants. (Tbh if this conservatory is being used often at night I would have to paint the frames a dark green or grey or black)

I can understand why you’ve set the couple of chairs looking out at the garden (for the view) but not sure that’s right. I would have arranged the room as I would a lounge; facing together or inwards or at the very least at an angle. I think the brickwork and the flooring make it look very rustic. If you have underfloor heating then I can’t see you being able to swap it. It reminds me of a quarry floor. Could you have a large square of seagrass carpet? Perhaps the small base wall could be painted?
