Bifold or sliding doors??? My husband and I can't agree! Any suggestions /advice gratefully received!

I have had bifold doors and didn't use them a they created a wind tunnel effect. We currently have large sliding doors and we are in the process of renewing all of the ancient windows and doors. We have opted for a standard width door plus a huge un- opening window in the space to maximise the amount of glass and light. It should look pretty good and was much cheaper than any double door option.

Thank you for your feedback @Valerie Markus - we decided to be safe and went with standard bi-folds - they are proven and have less moving parts to go wrong, so hopefully less maintenance.

Hi Does anyone have any experience of sliding patio doors where the centre 2 panes slide behind the two outers like in this photo? We have 3.5m opening and think we would very rarely fully open bifold doors, and traditional 2 pane sliding doors would be unwieldy with small children going in and out... any thoughts would be very gratefully received

Help with curtains in a patio door recess

By putting the curtains in the recess you will lose a lot of light. I suggest you measure how much space the current curtains take up on the outside and then block out that amount of space with cardboard to see if you are happy to lose that much light. Personally I would go with a more tailored look such as roman blinds above the outside the recess or a pelmet with roller blinds behind which will retain the light but give the cleaner look you want.

Grey or white patio door?

New white windows throughout, with grey composite front door. Patio door (back) has been fitted grey (in error). We asked for white. We can keep grey or have it changed to white. I think it looks odd?

I've fitted bi-fold doors in my own house I would highly recommend them to everyone they are a great addition into a home. Just have an everyday opening door as that is what we use when the weather is not so good.
