Can you recommend tile alternative (eg shower panel) that doesn't look

Hi, in our ensuite we have used Multipanel blizzard with a white trim and really like it. It is so much easier to keep clean. We now want to use panel of some description in our bathroom around the bath which is moving under the window.
The fitter has recommended that we fit it into the window recess and as a window sill. All makes sense as there is a shower but, I'm not over keen on the trim as I think it can make it look a bit like a caravan if it doesn't match. The trims only come on chrome, white and black.

Other than sticking with blizzard and white trim - which is maybe a little too disco in the bathroom - any ideas? I like acrylic colour backed panels (expensive and shop suggested they can crack easily?) and have thought about bioclad, (PVC with matching trim) but not sure we won't end up looking like a hospital. What do you think?

HI Jodg,

Microcement is what you should look into.
Its seamless, so no worries about trim. When applied by trained applicators it's completely waterproof. It's available in over 30 standard colours, also metallic finishes.
it's only 3mm thick so you wouldn't lose as much space as you would with panels. We incorporate a mesh into the base so it will not crack. Finally the sealing is polyurethane so aswell as being waterproof it is extremely hard wearing.

The price is comparable to tiles and cheaper than panels for a full room.

Hi, I agree that trims don't look good. If you opt for a porcelain tile then it is possible to cut a tile and then re polish the cut edge with a stone polishing kit. The same way that they polish the edge on a granite work surface. You can buy a kit from the likes of screw fix, you also need a grinder. This then allows you to have a neat finished edge. Having said all that I would look into a smoked mirror splash back as it's much more contemporary and easy clean.

We have an independent bathroom company near to where we live. We spent hours looking on line at different products until we were so confused with it all. We picked a Darryl shower cabinet in the end, priced up on line and then visited the local showroom to see if they would price match - they matched the price on line and gave us a really great deal. We have a rain shower and it is fab, it's not electric, just runs off the hot and cold pipes. We got our bath from the Cast Iron bath company when they had a sale on. It's worth gathering together all the items you would like to purchase and then just asking for the cheapest price from everyone, as you can see, we got a good price but still gave the business to our local showroom. You need to ensure that the colour/design you choose is correct. They are too expensive to swap around. I have Nuance by Bushboard. Lots of colour choices in 3 different price ranges and there's absolutely no way I would revert back to mucky tiles/grouting and all the maintenance they require. Google Nuance and ensure you have BB Complete for the joints and seals. I personally don't like niches cut out as I've found they hold the water. I have a stainless steel holder for my shampoo etc. It's big enough to hold 5-6 bottles of various stuff.

We did glass in one and it looked fabulous. No need for trim! The little sill at the end of the bath we did with floor tile and just used silicone to seal.

Jodg, thank you.

It's cement and special resin. Trowelled on and then worked to achieve different finishes and effects.

It can be finished in gloss, satin or matt.
A nice way of achieving a 'non hospital' look is to use two colours and finish one in Matt and the other in gloss.

I forgot to mention that it is used on floors aswell. it will go over almost any surface (directly onto tiles if needed) as long as its structure is sound.
