Repaying our patio
Comments (7)We have a brick house with mottled red bricks. We have recently paved a huge area with grey sandstone which is very consistent in colour. The cool grey looks really effective next to the warm brick colour and we are now doing the front with the same. We considered slate, but it is either very dark or mottled and we wanted something which had the right tone. I will send a picture if I can....See Moreshape of patio / indian sandstone
Comments (29)Love the circular detail in your patio, forzaitalia. I use cleaning vinegar (not sure if there's another English name for it, but it's basically a very strong vinegar that you should NOT use for food) to get rid of moss and algae on pavement. Don't know its effect on sandstone. But it kills off the green stuff, which is more effective than pressure washing it. You just spray it on and wait for it to die. Takes a couple of days. Doesn't return as quickly either. Also works on garden furniture....See Morecheapest landscaping/ patio options?
Comments (42)Hi tani :-) the system will works with any tile as long as it has a rectified edge and is 20mm thick for strength! Tbh they are an added extra but the thought of being able to lift and lay them where ever I liked really appealed to me, plus the extra for the system I can save in labour and do it myself! Pretty easy if your anyway good with your hands and have a good diamond cutting blade....See MorePatio advice and ideas please
Comments (39)@rach1922 - you are quite right that people harvesting Indian sandstone were exploited, as well as the use of child labour. For this very reason many UK suppliers have installed their own staff in their own quarries to ensure this does not happen. So basically there are companies who have total control to ensure the Stone is ethically harvested, such as Marshall’s, London Stone etc. I used Global Stone who supply many builders merchants. Sadly, we as a society exploit many people in many countries so that we can enjoy cheap clothing etc. It’s a minefield....See MoreNicky T
