How can I decorate this rental house?
Comments (7)Thankfully the furniture is not mine! I have a lot of plain white/ grey pieces, plus some plain bedsheets too, so hopefully I can detract from that dreadful wallpaper. I know it's probably not worth the effort for 6 months, but I genuinely suffer a lot from migraines, so I'm doing everything I can to minimise them!...See MoreNew home decor - patterned wallpaper and curtains
Comments (10)I agree with minnie about the curtain fabric. Very elegant. Not so keen on the wallpaper. Two points: I think the valance boxes for the curtains are too heavy and bring down the room. What is it like underneath? Could you remove them to lighten the look (or shorten the box)? Second, have you considered having a different wallpaper? Certainly I don't recommend painting over wallpaper - so far, it never works and you see the seams if not immediately, over time....See MoreMid century house , how to decorate ?
Comments (18)What a great house. It's hard to find pictures but I like your idea of a Japanese/oriental mid century fusion. Some Noguchi pieces might be good! I've also find a tour of a similar house for inspiration. I love the ceiling, hard to tell from the photos but if you did want to make the rooms feel taller you could paint just the lower beams in a pale stone colour. I might also reveal the wood floor and use rugs to break up the wood. I would just use earthy colours with charcoal/black and lots of green for plants. I like colourhappys idea to paint the wood outside, I might get some 3D renders done. I love the base units in the kitchen. Are they beyond repair if you could get the appliances integrated? Perhaps a coat of paint and some shelves instead of wall units? https://thespaces.com/2016/04/14/a-japanese-inspired-midcentury-home-in-austin-hits-the-market-for-1-29m/2/...See MoreWhat colours do you like to use in your home decor?
Comments (9)I also find Parma Grey a bit “battleship”. But in my last house the bedroom was very light and the Tanner Brown and Pavillion Grey combination felt very warm. For me the essential thing is contrast- I find a scheme that is all pale very uninspiring but I do like Farrow and Ball all white . I have used a lot of the All White in my house but I have one wall in my Living room as black, I have The Ranger on my kitchen walls which is a strong Green/gray (paired with white cabinets). And I liked this green so much I have had the TV room painted in the same colour...See More- 8 years agolast modified: 8 years ago
