Ideas on accessories for windowless bathroom
We've recently give out bathroom a lick of paint as it was magnolia before. Its a windowless bathroom so i thought a bit of colour will brighten it up.
We need to accessorize the room so I was thinking a window shaped mirror above the toilet? Get rid of the shower curtain and having a glass panel. Just thinking what to put on the wall opposite ...
Ideas will be much appreciated ☺

Comments (10)Hi. I'm a bit confused, have you bought the vanity and are looking to paint it? Is the rest of the bathroom fitted as you could add brass or copper taps for instance with a matching mirror? Accessories will also warm it. I like a little wooden stool in a bathroom which you can add accessories to i.e. A candle, natural sponge, flannel etc which has some texture. A plant on the window sill if you have one and then nice accessories for the sink and either some coloured towels or I like hammam ones. I've found a couple of pics but they may not post as houzz has issues :( These are using deep rich colours which may bring the cabinet towards you a little. Comments (15)Some lovely suggestions above - another couple of things to consider might be: a towel rad placed slightly above where it is at the moment (presume yours is the same as the show home) to avoid splash on your towels, maybe at 800/900mm from the floor; mirrored storage cabinets above the wc and a nice illuminated mirror (poss with charging socket and demister) above the basin; a fold-in shower screen above the bath so it folds against the wall when not in use - make sure the shower controls go on the longer wall rather than at the end. Comments (6)As you have chrome, a chrome shelf unit would sparkle against the gray. With green plants - and if you aren't green thumbed faux plants are soo real these days! So you could go shiny with chrome accessories. Or you could go wood, bamboo with shelf or mirror, and accessories. Two things I thought might be nice to do is to spray paint the rad the same colour as the blue of the wall it's sitting on. In this way it's discreet and blends with the colour it's situated with. Zinsser123 is a good primer which adheres to metal from which you can use the colour you used for that portion of the wall.
I also wanted to suggest tiles for behind the sink that again compliment the wall colour.. So the eye takes in the room as a whole rather than dart to the tiles. This also works with your two tone scheme and shows this off to it's advantage..
If you could reposition the mirrored cabinet (or see further for another idea) you could possibly find a large mirror to hang which fits more of this wall space and in this way draws the eye upwards.. Something visually stunning in a old silver would work with the mint and grey scheme..
Going back to the cabinet.. If you had something slim in depth but bigger in width dimensionally from your current, it could be more useful. It could be made from wood and painted grey to compliment the upper portion of the wall above the rad.. In this way it too can blend with the scheme.. Being narrow but long could be a benefit as you can house all inside it.
It could be in 3 separate units if you wanted to split them up. Consider sliding doors with a finger hole for a simple and stylish finish that can simply be painted to blend with the grey portion of the wall..
Not only will this free the space above sink and loo for something visually more exciting like a mirror which will also lend itself to the idea of scale and light with the appearance of more space in the bathroom and light..
Your glass panel for the bath is also another nice idea as this again gives an open and stylish finish to the shower part of the bath.. Simple ideas that can have a big impact..
Then lovely accessories and possibly faux foliage for a relaxing soak.. : ))
Bevelled Venetian style finish for sophisticated look.. I have specifically not chosen bathroom mirrors as I personally hate them... They quite simply aren't stylish.. and having spent more than 20 years sitting in front of mirrors with lighting putting on performance makeup and checking my bun! I have to say... no!
The faux plant idea could be something to sit above the cistern to again draw the eye upward.. This one pictured is faux can be large leaved fronds if you prefer in a vase but you get the idea... Nice reflections are made from it and the mirror... A simple smallish shelf painted the colour of the wall it's sitting on could house the plant or something nice that you like the idea of..

7 years agoPersonally I think you can't have too many mirrors. Invest in a huge mirror - it will double the size of the bathroom. Also, I don't think a shower screen is a good idea in a small bathroom. I prefer a white shower curtain and then you can push it out of the way when not in use and maybe tie it up with some large colourful ribbon.
