Grey grout for white metro tiles
Comments (3)Hello Carol, What about a darker grey. Mapei have a good selection.. I think if you want to make a statement with coloured grout as it's gr8 for subway tiles, from my experience I would suggest darker.. Light is not anywhere near as interesting.. but that's because I'm sitting here looking at mine! : ))...See MoreHelp. Should grout be white or sympathetic?
Comments (6)I would go for a sympathetically colored grouting as well; if you do it white, it will glare out at you, get dirty and look even more at odds over time. Something brownish which blends in to the other colors - you don't want it to stand out in any way - grouting needs to disappear and the tiles take prominence....See MoreLarge Black Dormers
Comments (16)Good question!.... Our architectural drawings showed smaller looking dormers on the outside and large inside. We are very naive to all this so just went with suggestion from builder(who has since disappeared before completion). Internally it is actually smaller than the plans but larger outside. We have tried to decifer where blame lies, but it seems that all of this is perfectly acceptable !! Just glad my hairdresser doesn't adopt the same work ethic !. I think we are going to have to give tiles a go. wish we could reverse the whole thing, but maybe the dormers will look less dominant if tiled. .... You really think grey frames... Would that not look dull ?...See MoreLarge format porcelain tiles
Comments (0)I'am being asked more and more to fit large format porcelian tiles to walls or floor finishes. As I have found a really good Spanish supplier and a tiler who is now fully trained-up to understand how to fit such large format porcelain tiles. The type of project large format porcelain tiles are suited for is huge: bathrooms, floors, walls internal and external. It can even be used for furniture items like reception desks. Also it is great for overlaying onto existing floors to upgrade the appearance in a tired looking reception space. Whilst the material requires special handling and fitting it saves on labour time, as the fit covers a whole wall really quickly, and the best part is – large format porcelain tiles help to prevent black mould and grout discolouration as they remove huge areas of grout joints. Some joints are needed and these can be located to meet design requirements. But as the unit sizes are 2.6m by 1.2m or 2m x 1m its possible to cover an entire shower space without grout joints. I am interested to hear if people are interested in this and would like to consider using it. Ideally the project should be a fairly large project with a number of bathrooms or walls, to make the process economic to install. The tiles cost about £300 to £600 per panel plus fitting costs....See MoreDanielle
