Help with hallway flooring

Hi, this is my first post. I'm in the process of redecorating my hallway. The ceiling,walls and stairs have been painted. I'm loving the colours however I'm not sure what to do about the flooring. I've never liked the tan/orangey laminate flooring however don't want to rip it up yet. I'm thinking of doing kitchen renovation next year so would like to replace all the ground floor flooring in one go. I've also purchased vinyl stair risers.

If you are looking at a temporary solution until you renovate the rest of the house it may be worth investing in some loose runners for the time being. Be sure to also purchase anti skid underlay at the same time to avoid the runner creeping and slipping on the laminate flooring

Thanks, I didn't realise this managed to get posted! I kept getting a message that I was unable to post. I quite like these stair risers although I was thinking of using them like a stair runner. I have also come across some vinyl mats. This could potentially have the same effect?

Hello Robin, No need to remove anything just add a huge mirror on the right hand wall with some height as I suggested earlier in the thread, then you will get a border reflected and also the arch! It is quite important to work with what you have, and you can cleverly with the oversized mirror! eBay have a shop for them! Once you paint frame to match the walls you will see how useful it could be. Possibly 8ft by 8ft as high as you can go to get the arch in! It's what I would do.. :))

We had Polyflor installed in all bathrooms and have taken the decision to do the whole of downstairs in it also. I have 3 small children with lots of energy that like to run round the new open space. The thing that swung it for me having paid for a number of full size samples in Karndean and Polyflor was how slippy the Karndean was compared to the Polyflor. Also the Polyflor doesn't catch the light and reflect the same as the Karndean.

We are also very much biased, and would also be in the wood camp for all the reasons already mentioned.. If you do go that way, ask your fitter to install a matwell by the front door for an entrance mat - this will help remove the grit and dirt and limit the potential for scratching your new floor. good luck with the project - Cambium Floors

Yes this would have a similar effect looking at the staircase face on and will have a visual impact. Do bear in mind that you will lose the runner look when you are standing at the top the stairs looking down as you won't be able to see the risers. Just something to think about.
