Bespoke Vs Bought- why do people assume expensive?
Comments (11)Definitely! I feel I need to post this on every thread about the chains lol! Please look local as well as the 'sheds'. We offer a choice of over 2000 combinations of door choice. We have a solid 18mm glued and do welled carcass all the way round and also have bespoke sizes and the whole kitchen can be personalised! We beat 80% of the high street quotes through our doors and provide a completely personal service and aftercare! Not selling our company a such just saying I would definitely take a look local as well as the major chains as all of our customers have been majorly surprised and saved a lot of £££ in the process!! Jade (Home By Design Kitchens) It's a real shame as I hate the idea of people being ripped off or unhappy with their purchase! I know different areas etc have different prices but some of the margins companies make are seriously unethical lol! Jade X...See MoreI think I've given up - Living Room v Man
Comments (27)We may not share artistic values but we do share one good thing... love and our life together - he's simply your typical man who loves to lounge around even when covered in dirt! We may have completely different ideas for our home but he is a good egg :) Anyway I do believe we have found common ground... surprisingly he really likes my idea of using grey with bright colours. We have agreed that as long as I stop forcing him to endure flamingos or similar, he will put up with me buying vintage and completely unnecessary furniture. He's said I can do whatever I want with those awful armchairs... WIN! I think we are going with man friendly greys meets pops of colour/vintage. It's pay day next week and I simply can't wait any longer!! Having said that... some ideas for what style of vintage and arrangements will be wonderful! Here is the photo from my kitchen door - anything attached to the walls were already there from the previous residents and will be removed... such as the mirror which isn't in line with that hideous folding table and the strange religious wall in the corner.... plus the half finished wallpaper on the chimney breast lol. x...See Morekitchen design - magnet not specifying unit types
Comments (36)Mary, re ordering with DIY, every single element you need is listed separately on their website you just need to go through methodically and add everything to your basket, (it sounds way worse than it is in practice :-)). Once this is done, you can send them your design and the reference number for your order and they will check you have everything you need. They spotted that I had missed an end post that I needed. I must have called them 10 times during the whole process and they could always answer my question straight away, or with a quick call down to their technical team. I did miss one end panel too that the builder realised when fitting, it did not delay the fitting and he just added it when it arrived about 8 days later. The £15k was for everything including fitting. Fitting was £1800, worktops fitted were £4k which was a great price for the amount of Silestone. We got this from Henderstone, I would recommend them. Integrated larder fridge, dishwasher, under counter freezer all from AO at a total cost of £850, Delonghi range cooker also £850. Appliances are not high end, but standard brands, the fridge is integrated and we did not require an ice dispenser or anything fancy, I can live with a bag of ice in the freezer for my G&T's :-) so as long as the fridge does its job i.e. stays cold, I'm happy. The units are Helmsley in-frame, the grey units around the walls are from their standard range of colours it's called 'soft grey'. The island is Hague Blue, they offer their units in any Farrow and Ball colour of your choice. This is then called Helmsley Bespoke. A little tip; going for the bespoke option adds about 30% to the price of the units, so if there is a colour that you like in the standard range it helps keep costs down to go for that for the bulk of the kitchen and then accent with less units in the more costly option. This is what we did with the island, luckily we genuinely loved the soft grey anyway, so this worked well for us. I also totally agree with Asifa, it is all in the fitting, a really budget kitchen fitted well and with good worktops can look amazing, a high end kitchen poorly fitted cheapens the end result. Hope this is helpful, sorry for the long post! ;-)...See MoreSmall extension or remove walls and use clever design?
Comments (11)hi there. best option to have most light in you would like to have is to install a nice and full width bifold door. they are juicy on price but not horrible expensive. bathroom refurb usually can cost you about up to 5k£ just to take in consideration bifold door would be about 3k£ including installation your extension would be about 16k£ because of a limited access and I'm not to sure what sort of refurb are involved too as haven't seen all existing drawings. kitchen assume about 2.5k£ incl installation for a decent mid range stuff flooring painting and other bits and pieces can be about up to 3k£ in the new and existing area dpc issue can be sorted with A, as you mention lower a ground 150mm B, install new dpc 150mm above the ground and joint it together with a new extension and tank out externally by the side of a building. that would be another 3-4k£ job if you would like to refurb your diner area too that can be about 600£/m2. as i don't know the exact area just can give you an average cost per a m2. in a first place thats what i can see realistic. in total...See MoreHome By Design Ltd
