Help! Furnishing Ideas needed
Comments (14)My flat re-furb has progressed much since my last post - thank you all input. I have another dilemma which is to do with wall dressing for my hallway. Which would you recommend for both walls? - A set of 2 paintings (70h x 40w) framed in black and hang in portrait with a splash of colour for the larger wall and - A set of smaller prints in a cluster for the wall by the mirror Here’re some photos...Thanks in advance...See MoreColour suggestions for soft furnishings
Comments (9)Hi. Yes you can mix patterns. There are lots of articles on houzz and online showing how. If you don't feel comfortable just add a solid colour cushion/s and a textured throw on that sofa though. Is yours the DFS sofa with stags?Mustard could work as the accent colour. Would you use the duck egg as your secondary colour? If so I'd go for a light mustard or if you want a stronger mustard then swap the duck egg for teal. I'd just pick up loads of cushions from a shop with a good refund policy and try them out! Maybe a flush fitted chandelier would work? BHS have a few on their website. You should leave a space of between 35-45cm between sofa and table. As it's not a passageway you should get away with 35 each side (try it with a cardboard box to check its comfortable for your legs). You could go for a slim rectangular footstool (to which you could add a tray and accessorise) or a small round or teardrop table. I think the mantle is fine as it goes with the reddy tones in the floor. You can have more than one mirror in the room. One over the sofa could work to make the room feel wider (something about 2/3 of the length of the sofa). A clock would work over the fire but do you have space for art elsewhere? I'd try rotating the mirror 90 degrees and hang it just a few inches over the chest. Good luck!...See MoreHelp with soft furnishings and accessories in living room please
Comments (20)I've just looked at your old post, wow the room has changed! Re the sofa wall, I would add scandi style art with rounded shapes just to break up the lines of the rug. I wouldn't go for curtains with the radiator personally (which I'd paint in the wall colour) but Roman blinds, I think a horizontal stripe would help with the ceiling height. I'd bring the chair in a little from the door so it doesn't visually look as if it's blocking it. A personal thing but not keen on throws over the back of chairs/sofas, just the arms. I do like your navy throw but wonder if a tasselled one would look good? Scarves are a cheaper option and normally a much better fit. Unless the table is left empty for practical purposes I might add accessories or even just a vase of stems. The only thing I'm less keen on is the gallery wall area, it seems a bit busy as you've already got the frames. I might just go for the hemnes shoe cabinet and add a large plant and then a small one in your brass pot. I think just adding books and plants will help with the accessories...See MoreHelp with accessories please!
Comments (3)I agree, blush, copper and grey work well for a scandi theme. Caramel should also work with a pink and pick up the wallpaper. Do you have a picture or link to the sofas and tables? I would also try and add some wood, assuming you have a tv, do you have a tv stand or any other furniture?...See More
