Cornice question.

I've just been anole to salvage about 40mtrs of beautiful and very expensive plaster Victorian Cornicing (reproduction) from a set I was just working on. It's all in 2.5 Mtr lengths and slightly tattered from where it was taken down, which I actually like and think adds to its charm!
My question is, would I be able to find someone to put it up even tho it's not pristine?

I don't see why not. The installers concern would be that it wouldn't install perfectly and there might be gaps or other issues. If you let them know you understand the issues sure you will find an installer. Good luck!

Such a great question, I hope you get some responses as I'm sure the floor will look great when restored. I'm no expert on conservation but we have just restored our porch tiles. They are encaustic tiles, some were chipped and we replaced these with extras we had from another room. We have also installed an encaustic tile from fired earth in our cloakroom. Fired earth do a range of cleaning products for tiles. I've no idea whether these are the best on the market but my tiles certainly came up a treat. Just google fired earth tile restorer and you will see the different products. Marble staining might be tricky to remove but I would definitely give it a go. Alternatively you could pay someone £££'s to do the work!good luck with your project, it sounds very exciting.

Hi everyone , thanks for all your comments, everything you have said is exactly what we have been thinking.... flush simple ceiling lights and a floor lamp in the corner, although we are now toying with the idea of two matching lamps on tables at either side of the bay window and maybe adding some wall ornaments or something to add detail above the lamp to balance the curtain height . Yes we were going to add some wall art between the sofa and cabinet. Yes the sofa can be moved closer to the other sofa but that works better if the tv is positioned more in the corner and because of the huge tv it had to be flat on the wall ( I would love the TV to be wall mounted but my husband is old fashioned and the tv HAD to be on a cabinet) there is more space than it looks between back of sofa and cabinet so it's not too univiting and the ottoman seems to line up where it is.

I would be a bit concerned about the depth of it from front to back as the room is only 14'6 deep and even less where the fireplace is. Why don't you compare this to other sofas you like. In terms of how it looks, Chesterfields are timeless and will look good with other timeless items. Not for someone who likes everything to 'match' though.
