POLL: How do you store your clothes?
In the past, the wardrobe was a place where clothes were hidden from view. Today, due to lack of space or other design decisions, there are many other ways to store our clothing, not necessarily involving a wardrobe!
How do you store your clothes? And why did you opt for this choice?

POLL: How often do you redecorate in your home?

We have been in this house 32 years and have done everything at least once from renewing the roof and windows to digging out the floor, putting in a damp course and installing central heating. The ensuing recoration has been a "classic" traditional colour-scheme of soft barley and sage green to suit the era the house was built. It suits us down to the ground and we are not distracted by outdated decor. We give it a lick of paint when it needs it. The house is the only one in this Victorian terrace to have retained many original features such as picture rails, dado, marble fireplace and ceiling rose, but internal doors were sadly a victim of the dreaded Fire Certificate and other "improvements", which also mean all the features inc. windows and front door were not retained as we would have wished and we have also had to cover the pine floors we so lovingly restored with carpets and vinyl because they needed protecting from high-heels and countless sandy feet. We also dopted the German fashion for wood-chipping and painting what were pretty uneven walls. They have been over-painted so often, the texture is barely visible and it has withstood the test of time. We are in a seaside location, so there has been heavy wear and tear from a couple of generations of holiday making friends and relatives as well as our own family. The kitchen is the biggest challenge being north-facing with practically no light and whilst it was being excavated we made the bathroom into a temporary kitchen, but never restored it, so now we have two showers and three toilets in the house, but no bath! The room is a designated "laundry room" which is also a tool store, boiler and hobby room. The house will soon be on the market, so redecoration will not be our choice. Comments (10)In the family sitting room, we have a 5 arm pendant light on a dimmer switch, with 3 matching 2-arm wall lights. One further single wall light. We have one desk lamp, and lighting above the glass shelves of the alcove and in the inglenook fire place. The OH also has a floor standing, adjustable angle light for reading. In the other sitting room we have, 4 down lights, a centre ceiling light with 5 arms, 4 table lamps in the corners, 2 wall lights and lights in shelving alcove and in the wall of bookcases. Use different colours for bathrooms, dishcloths, dusting, windows etc....mine aren't actually E-cloth branded, but my husband sells them to industries and healthcare so they are tried and tested microfibres, and I get all mine FOC!!! Very fortunate, I know :) Make brilliant gifts too ;) not very elegant but always appreciated!...See More

7 years agoJeg har købt et par arkivskabe fra den gamle Paludan tegnestue i Aarhus, som fungerer perfekt til tøj, håndklæder og sengelinned. Det fede er at arkivskabet er lavet i stål, således man sætte magneter på det. Jeg har bygge både iPad holder og en lampe, der sidder fast på arkivskabet med kraftige magneter.
I have bought a couple of old file cabinets from a Danish design studio, which works perfect for my clothes, towels and bed linnen. The cool thing about the file cabinets is that it is made in steel and therefore magnetic. I have built an iPad holder and a lamp, which I have attached to my file cabinets with powerful magnets.
