Challenging living room

Hello! We have just moved into our new place but are very much struggling on how to furnish our lounge as it has a very challenging shape! I've attached the floorplan - any help or ideas would be very much appreciated! Thanks, Sue

The challenge is mainly due to the number of door s, and open spaces in the room

If you are going to make this a TV room then put the TV in he middle of this wall and orientate the sitting around it.
If this is a social room then two sofas opposite each other.
Whatever you do get a large rug in the middle to anchor your furniture to and go go too large as you will inevitable have to walk around the outside as this room looks like it is a through way

Front room for me! we have three rooms opened into one large living space, this is great when you have a large family. I still say front room, but mainly to describe the location of say my book or glasses if I'm am asking somebody to fetch them for me. It makes for a quicker find :)

You could have a sofa on the wall that backs on to children's play room, with a pair of swivel chairs opposite ( so can chat to people at dining table too ) and a fireplace or tv on the right wall centrally between them (in the area marked 3500)Have the dining table under where second rooflight is drawn - and have a further pair of swivel Chairs in the window/door area overlooking garden, to watch the children play outside ? But that's just one option... there's lots you can do with this space ! Hello K! Congratulations on your new home. You are right its a tricky room to space. It appears from your photos that the TV points are in that small corner near the balcony window so it dictates where the Tv is placed. Obviously if you have other Tv outlets then other layouts could be considered. Also I think it depends on the shape of your dining table. I would probably use a layout similar to that couple that had the table with the benches in situ. I would maybe put the Tv on a hinged or angled table in the corner so it doesn't always obstruct the view out of the balcony and let as much light in as possible. Also the dining table should always be closest to the kitchen as that's how the natural flow of use will be. Good luck! and let us know how it turns out
