Help me choose kitchen worktops and possible splashback/tiles
Comments (13)Hi, I've now had quartz worktops fitted in a white with grey and mirror flecks (compact lactea) & attach photos. Cabinets are all done too. My next area is what to do for splashback behind the hob/under the extractor. I originally wanted to do red glass across the length of the wall, but we have had under unit lights fitted below the higher cabinets and at night I can change these to any colour I want. If I do red all across I won't get the effect of the lights. Not even sure red would go? The wooden chairs are going and will be replaced & I still need to choose my island lights (thinking 3 pendants hanging). Husband thinks stainless steel sheet behind hob. I'm not sure this will look right with dark glass hob under it & wonder if it is hard to look clean all the time. What ideas do you all have as you helped with the worktops. I also show the dining table and the new open lounge area (intend to put a rug down). We also still need to find wall lights....See MoreKitchen - too much orange???
Comments (14)Hello randjb, One thing that might be an idea is not to have the orange splashback wrapping around the hob unit and instead one sleek sheet... Painting the door and skirtings, architrave etc to blend with the walls is a good idea and also the rad... The eye then takes in the kitchen as a whole... Don't shy away from your selection... Celebrate it.. but stick to this one accent colour only.. Perhaps introduce some vintage glass centrepiece in orange for the dining table, something semi translucent... Could you make more of the pendant by adding more to this? Carry a bit more orange into the living area... The above centre piece and these lamp bases are Murano glass but something like these could be gr8! : ))...See MoreHelp choose splashbacks, island lighting, island chairs
Comments (9)Hi Sheron, Kitchen is looking great - is it just just behind the hob you were looking to do? Couple of ideas: 1) could get a piece of clear glass cut to suit and screw in place (with rubber grommets to protect glass) - you can then use it like a picture frame and put photos/maps/postcards etc behind it - and change whenever you want 2) I'm still stalling on what to do with our hob splash back, so I've painted that section of the wall in matching paint, but in an eggshell finish. This means it's wipe-down and keeps the room quite minimal whilst I decide - but I might keep it this way! 3) tiles always look great and are very durable - I'd always recommend getting lots of samples before committing to any of them though 4) you could get a slab of the same worktop material to run up the wall? Re: the stools - whilst not very modern looking, they look fairly robust and reliable - so you could always investigate keeping these and painting these in your chosen feature colour?...See MoreIt's the little details!
Comments (1)One of our clients bravely went with bright coloured and deliberately mis-matched bar stools in a largely white room and we think they look fabulous - adding a touch of entertaining colour and drawing the eye nicely....See MoreVy
