When remodelling your house , don't assume where your kitchen is now is the best place.... imagine where you would prefer it to be and put it there!

Totally agree, Christopher Brummit. I persuaded a friend that the place for her kitchen was not in the one room overlooking the garden - which is where it was when she bought the house - but in the middle with the dining room at the front (with a fireplace) and the sitting room at the back with a gorgeous view. I also think it's worth thinking about the dining room's location. In my 1927 house, it's meant to be at the back which means it overlooks the garden. Meanwhile, the sitting room overlooks the road. I swapped and couldn't be happier especially as the room at the back is much bigger. Shake it up is what I do!

when moved 2 years ago into the house of our dreams we knew it was going to take awhile to do everything we wanted. so we splurged on the livingroom. put in a stove, sanded the floor, had the ceiling plastered & bought gorgeous sofas. the rest of the house is functional but this room is our sanctuary. :)
