Help with lounge layout after blocking in double doors

We are having a new kitchen extension and removing dining room wall, to create kitchen and leisure area. I want to block up the double doors from dining room and create a separate lounge. Looking for ideas on the new lounge layout. This room can be dark in winter.

I meant to add to my original comment. I am so used to my existing lounge layout that I cannot visualise how to make the most of this room without the double doors.

Seems to me that you need to decide what you want to look at most and point the furniture towards that.
You might find that with a long empty wall you might add a fireplace. You might prefer the view into the garden or you might prefer to have furniture facing each other to be sociable.
Personally I would buy a long low unit for the wall where the doors used to be and have a nice TV. I would put a sofa opposite and the chairs or smaller sofa at each end

Hi Joe, It would be fair to say the cushions do move about quite a bit and I have to nudge them back into position - particular the seat cushions. They probably move about because they're fairly light and hold their shape firmly so they shift around. The benefit of this is that the sofa holds its shape and still looks smart 2.5 years after purchase despite a lot of use. The particular fabric I have is very hard wearing. When you look close up the fabric is quite mottled so it is fairly forgiving. We have two young children who eat and drink on the sofa and the fabric still looks good as new. The sofa is comfy yet you are sat fairly upright, rather than slouching into it if that makes sense. I'm happy with it because I wanted something that wouldn't show stains, wasn't overly expensive (so that we didn't need to stress with the children) yet it still looks smart. I think it really depends on your circumstances and how you need your sofa to work for you.

I think shortening the lounge is a great idea. Could the new kitchen door go through the cupboard in the hall next to the shower room? This would make the new wall nicely balanced with the window in the new dining room. @mininie thank you. Love the storage elements of the floor to ceiling and wall to wall. It does make it more look more part of the room. We weren’t too sure about having the tv above the fireplace in the lounge again as we like to laying on our sofa to watch tv. Yes, we are planning on keeping the doubles doors for now. I’m still keen on changing the kitchen layout but it will have to wait due to the tight & lack of budget 🤣. We’ve decided to break our house plans into 2 categories; Essential, Medium & Long term work. Currently the lounge, under stairs storage, utility rooms (as there is currently no space for a tumble dryer) are some of the things we’ve put under Essential work.

I agree with Serena. Looking at your plan an L shaped sofa in this room doesn’t appear to work especially because you have to negotiate around it to get into the room. I would leave the TV where it is and invest in a conventional sofa placed in front of the TV (closer than you have it now) and a single large armchair to its left. Place a coffee table between the TV and the sofa. Move the chair from behind the door to the wall between both windows and set a small table near it. Perhaps place a cabinet under the side window. Have you considered a window seat for supplemental seating? It would be a nice place to sit with a book.
